Starting from Mount Kuring-gai and walking part of the Great North Walk to Berowra Station via Berowra Creek. This walk descends along the Lyrebird Gully Track, where I have seen lyrebirds on past walks, through forests along Calna Creek to join Berowra Creek. Joining the Great North Walk from Crosslands. Walk North on the track beside the creek, before climbing the track back up to Berowra. Hazards include slipery surfaces, steep descents and ascents, wildlife. (Fully Booked) Leader: Lynne Hewitt. Never heard of Dangar Island? Join us for a tour to this idyllic island just a hop, skip and a jump from Hawkesbury River Station, Brooklyn. Upon arrival on this car-free oasis of bush, beach and tranquillity, we will be welcomed by tree-lined palms and jacarandas. On the lower grounds we'll walk past the Bowling Club and Bradleys Beach. On the higher grounds we'll get great views of the Hawkesbury River. We'll also walk past a Blackbutt – Rough-barked Apple Forest. Enjoy the scenic train ride across the Hawkesbury River and a joy ferry ride to the island. Enjoy lunch or Devonshire tea at Dangar Island Depot before taking the ferry back home. As we are staying overnight on Saturday 30th October to walk the Seven Miles Beach, we will stay another night to do another day of two short walks: The Drawing Room Rocks near Berry and Bomaderry Creek near Nowra. Great views of the NSW south coast. Looking out over Berry, 7 mile beach and Jervis Bay & on a clear day can see pigeon house mountain & the lighthouse at point perpendicular. This is a repeat of one of my most enjoyable walks last year. Travelling by fast train and then a bus, we reach the Princess Marina Track to the beautiful Kellys Falls, set in bushland that is noticeably different to that around Sydney or the Blue Mountains. From here we walk around and see some of the wonderful views over the coast from Stanwell Tops before descending 150 metres down the escarpment to Stanwell Park Station for the journey home. Most of the walk is fairly flat except for the descent to Stanwell Park. Uneven and possibly slippery track surfaces, a steep descent and creek crossings.
