This is Part 4 of a 60 km, four-day walk, circling Sydney Harbour with the Sydney Harbour and Gladesville Bridges as its eastern and western points. This walk is co-led by Kevin Cliffe, Geoffrey Lee and Esther Chow. No need to contact but email rsvp is appreciated. This magnificent walk is focusing on the Harbour itself – the expanse of water, the bridges, islands, urban bushland and city skyline. The route winds along parts of the foreshore, into bays and on to headlands, through bush, along historic streets and over grand bridges.

Find out why this unique unprotected area, part of the Gardens of Stone region, must be protected for future generations. Park vehicles on the Blackfellows Hand Trail at GR 327 090. Walk north down into Temple Creek, then turn west and walk along the base of the cliffs to Last Crusade Point and Ravine. Climb to the tops, then descend into Holy Grail Ravine. Prof Lesley Hughes will provide an update on how the world's and Australia's climate is changing, and the impacts it is having and will continue to have, with an emphasis on species and ecosystems. Prof Hughes is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Integrity and Development) and Distinguished Professor of Biology at Macquarie University. She is a former federal climate commissioner and was lead author in the IPCC’s fourth and fifth assessment reports. She is also a director for WWF Australia, a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists, the director of the Biodiversity Node for the NSW Adaptation Hub and a member of the expert advisory committee for Future Earth Australia. The Goulburn River is a delight to walk along with its grassy banks, colourful cliff lines and a good campsite at Spring Gully to welcome the weary walker! Day 1. Drive to Mount Coricudgy. With water for the day, walk to Middle Hill and set camp at around GR 541 694. Explore the nearby area that shows a couple of interesting slots. About 10km. Day 2. Find a way down into the creek to the north, explore a possible volcanic ‘neck’ on the way, then descend into Blackwater Creek. Take water, climb a ridge to the west and walk back to the camp. About 10km. Day 3. Find a way down into the creek to the south and follow it to Blackwater Creek, exploring a number slots along the way. Walk up Blackwater Creek and find an exit at around GR 545 658. Walk the ridge and then the trail back to the cars. About 12km. Exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.
