25 Jun, Sat 9:47AM | 5 Lands Walk: Mcmasters Beach to Terrigal Surf Club( info only)
Grade:3/6 | Length | 10km | 300m | Sydney Branch
(SWAG) Esther | |||||
This is for your information only. I am not leading. Public transport times are also suggestion only. You can you anytime. When you arrive at McMaster Beach, there will be marshalls and you just follow instruction( or the crowd). The 5 Lands Walk is a physical, spiritual and cultural journey. A gift to you from the communities and sponsors of the Central Coast. A place where no one is excluded. A place where family, friends and the wider community are encouraged to celebrate life, have fun and connect to our deep Aboriginal history, European settlement, and who we are today. In doing so we take a step to create a more harmonious and inclusive society on the Central Coast and beyond. The 5 Lands Walk is a day-long festival held on the Saturday closest to the winter solstice when the whales, a significant totem of the Darkinjung people, are migrating north, along 10 km of spectacular coastline.
In 2006 we were inspired by Italy's Cinque Terra, but we created our own uniquely Australian event, a collaboration between the Aboriginal and broader communities, to connect people to people and people to place. We've been improving it every year since.
2021 will see many old favourites plus some new features and events. Roughly 22 000 people are estimated to join us this year, so be prepared to be inspired.
Coffee available at McMasters Beach. BYO lunch or buy on way.
To register There are several long steady climbs, up and down, and a couple of short steep sections with steps. There’s even a boggy patch to add interest. Location: central Coast Map: Central Coast View |
25 Jun, Sat | Exploratory walk Stanwell Park to Coalcliff
Grade:2/6 | Length | 8km | Macarthur Branch
Lyn C | |||||
Distance (estimated) 8km approx. Moderate pace. Ocean views. This walk is exploratory, has only been partly pre walked months ago. We will have morning tea at Stanwell Park Beach Reserve, then have approximately an hour to explore the reserve and Stanwell Park beach area and make our way to the bus stop. Bus and walk to Coalcliff Beach where we hope to find our way to explore the rock platforms near Coalcliff Harbour which can be seen when crossing the Sea Cliff Bridge. Time permitting we will walk across the Sea Cliff Bridge and catch a bus from Scarborough to Thirroul for train return home. Somewhere along the way we will have a lunch break. Ups and downs, steps, sand walking (possibly but hopefully not wet feet), some unformed and uneven tracks, may be muddy and slippery. If anyone has knowledge of the area between Coalcliff Beach and the rock platforms at Coalcliff Harbour, email advice would be appreciated. We’re familiar with all the areas except how to access the rock platforms. Current forecast is for sun, gentle wind, low tide and low swell. Limit: 12. View |
