Evans Crown, Gouches Crater, Hassans Walls, Deep Pass, BlackFellows Hands, Blackmans Crown, Dunns Swamps Pagodas and Ferntree Gully Nature Reserve. (Fully Booked) A trip to Slovenia and Croatia from 5 Sept to 7 Oct 2018. Need to be able to do the entire trip and to carry a 10-12 kg pack for 5 days in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, staying in hotels and mountain huts. This hike commences and finishes in Bled and is medium difficulty involving a 11km, 620m ascent; 10.5km, 1100m ascent; 11km, 700m descent; 8.5km, 340m ascent and a 18km, 1200m descent. There are two cycles. The first one is from Ljubljana in Slovenia to Porec in northern Croatia. Cycling for 9 days with daily distances from 35km to 57km. The second cycle is in the islands of Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. It is a cruise and cycle covering 5 islands with cycling distances between 21km and 45km, difficulty grade 2 to grade 4. Jointly led by Kevin Cliffe and Esther Chow. No need to contact leaders but be on time because we won't wait. The majestic Waratah flowers were spotted by bushwalkers last Sunday at this track. We should be able to see the beautiful red Waratah flowers as well as other wildflowers on this bushwalk from Woy Woy to Pearl Beach. This walk has fantastic views too. We will get taxis to start of bushwalk to avoid a boring 4km street walk. At the end of walk at Pearl Beach, we can have takeaway fish & chips or a picnic on the beach. 2 walks will run concurrently on the day and walkers can choose which to join, meeting up again in the afternoon. Ironbark Track, Medium, 4 kms, leader Merran Cannon OR Ironbark Track to Cherry Creek and return via the fire trail, Hard, 9kms, leaders Graeme and Liz MacRaild. Walkers are reminded to bring along enough food and water for the entire day as well as suitable clothing, footwear, hat and sunscreen. A pair of good binoculars and a fold up chair is recommended. This unique but unprotected area, part of the Gardens of Stone region, has an active coal mine underneath it. Find out why it must be protected for future generations. Leave one vehicle at GR 243 305 on Glen Davis Road and drive another to GR 249 322 on the plateau. Walk southwards close to the rim of the escarpment all the way to Ultimate View and The Citadel; then to the Citadel Point at GR 255 301. Use a known pass to descend to the first car.
