Save Kosci walk: day 23. Today is the first day on which we use the abandoned Queanbeyan to Cooma railway easement to provide a change from road walking. The industrial Canberra suburb of Hume gives way to quiet walking on rail-side tracks as the route gradually gains height through forest and farming country, with some views to the Brindabellas. Save Kosci walk: day 27. The route runs on footpads and old 4WD tracks with a short section on quiet country road. Wide-open country. Via Bredbo. Two shallow wades or gully crossings. Car ferry 25 minutes at day’s end to the bush property of a supporter – extensive camping on creek flats with a 2 room cottage for cooking, in a forested valley which is dotted with large callitris trees and home to bark-chewing koalas.
