(Nearly fully booked) Today we walk from Springwood to Valley Heights via Martins Lookout, Perch Pond and Magdala Gully Track. Beautiful sandstones, waterfalls, wildflowers and trees. Majestic views at Martin's Lookout but very steep climb to get there... Some parts are 47% climb. Expect a long day as we are taking our time to climb. Some part of the track is hard. Steep and slippery sections. Goretex boots an advantage. Walk will be cancelled in severe weather warning, bush fire warning or park closure. Most people have to duck when going under particular overhangs. There is a short dark passage and the path through it isn't flat. Wet rocks in places. Creek crossings. Enjoy this cooler walk with its spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. We will walk from Watsons Bay to Rose Bay via South Head and Nielsen Park, where there will be time for a quick swim in the netted harbour pool. (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) From Bowral Pool we depart at 8:30am which is one hour earlier than normal departure time. We drive to Safari Kayaking located in Kangaroo Valley arriving around 9’ish where we select our kayaks/canoes and life jackets. Kangaroo Safari transport our boats to Bendeela and the car pool follows on. Once set up and in the water, we head upstream for about 3km to a lunch spot and then make our way back to Bendeela where our boats are returned to Safari Kayaking and we drive back to Bowral. The cost per person for boat hire is $45 (TBC) cash payable on the day. Please have the right amount of cash as we need to make a single payment. Cossies, hat, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water will be the go. Mostly still water. Possibility of one short section with quick flow if river is flowing. Descend to the Wollangambe at GR 598 925, and walk/swim/float/scramble down the river to around GR 629 924. Climb out to the first car. Participants must be competent swimmers and be able to handle scrambling and exposure. Helmets and wet suits are essential. Lilo is recommended. About 6 km. Partly exploratory. Hat Hill canyon is a shortish but spectacular canyon with some beautiful sections and its not too hard either,with only 3 short swims and no long scrambling bits. Basically we walk down to the delightful Lincoln Creek via Pisgah Rock Track and then walk up Lincoln Creek as far as we dare before using our trusty lilos to float down the creek and shoot the rapids where possible. Follow the water! The creeks and cascades are impressive after the recent rain. Starting at Frenchs Forest this walk takes bush tracks to follow Manly Creek as it cascades steeply down to Manly Dam. From the shores of the dam it climbs up to Balgowlah North. A few suburban streets lead to the headwaters of Burnt Bridge Creek where it picks up the shared bicycle paths along this hidden gem.
