5 Feb, Fri 4:21AM | Hat Hill Canyon | ||||
Sydney Branch | |||||
Yuri B. | |||||
No abseils but plenty of rock hopping and scrambling. A few short swims, so you need to be a competent swimmer.
Meet at Hat Hill carpark and drive some cars to the track in Godson Ave. Follow the track to Hat Hill Creek. Put on wetsuits. Continue downstream to where Hat Hill Creek plunges into the Grose. Retrace upstream to the exit point. Change into dry clothes for the walk out. If we have time, we will visit the Aboriginal engravings and grinding grooves near the car park. Drive to the start of the walk to collect vehicles.
Bring the helmet and dry bags. Wet suit or thermals depending on how you handle cold water. We will be in and out of the creek all day. Shoes that grip on wet rocks. Water. I would not recommend drinking from Hat Hill Creek. There are side creeks where we can refill. Leave a change of clothes in the car.
