Southern Sydney Branch | |||||
Peter V. | |||||
Filmmaker Gregory Miller began making the documentary Cultivating Murder soon after the murder of OE&H compliance officer, Glen Turner near Moree in 2014. The film follows the murder trial and conviction of Ian Turnbull, a major rural producer form Croppa Creek. It also reveals the large scale illegal land clearing that was taking place at the time, and questions whether the amount of land in NSW under cultivation is already too much. At the time of the court case the NSW Government set about changing the entire environmental legislation and introduced the new Bio Diversity Act, which is largely based on self assessment principals which are not beneficial for the environment and biodiversity in the state. The screening of the film will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker. View |
