Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longLeader: Lynne Hewitt.  The Alphabet Series: "U" .UWS Sculpture and Art Gallery Walk. A visit to see the sculptures in Western Sydney University, the Art Gallery of Campbelltown and the Japanese gardens behind the Art Gallery.   The Art Centre is a large outdoor sculpture and manicured park area which features a range of permanent and changing exhibitions. Experience the unique sculptures in a beautiful outdoor setting. Experience the Tether of Time - a 15-metre sculpture and meet Esmeralda, the 10-tonne granite prehistoric wombat. Spring time will enhance our visual and smell sense in our visit to the Japanese Gardens. The Japanese Gardens are a special gift from Koshigaya, Campbelltown's Sister City in Japan.   The Gardens symbolise the beliefs and religion of both Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan, and Zen Buddhism. The Campbelltown Japanese Gardens feature a traditional waterfall, koi pond, timber bridge, stonework pathways, lush plantings and a 16th Century designed teahouse, handcrafted by Japanese craftsmen. The aim of the garden is to obtain quiet solitude. The design represents elegant simplicity, lending itself to contemplation and heightened awareness. The Gardens is also home to the Arts Centre Cafe, a scenic dining location that overlooks the tranquil gardens. Limit: 15. View

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) This walk came from having walked to the end of two tracks at the end of fire trails, then looking at a map and seeing how close they are with a creek in between. Blue Mountain Creek is joined by following Kent Street Fire trail to its end, then following the spur down to the confluence of Blue Mountain Creek with the creek from Empire Pass Track. Continuing down the creek with multiple crossings and wet feet to the confluence with a creek from Amphitheatre Falls. Explore the canyon and unnamed falls. Exit the creek valley by a series of passes through the sandstone cliff line and up the spur to the end of Blue Mountain Track. Track joins North Lawson Fire trail and then heads back to Lawson. Blue Mountain Creek is lined with lush rainforest and ferns and is seldom visited. No track through this section. Creek crossings and off-track sections. Wet and slippery rocks. Exposed rock faces.

Grade:2/6 Length 4km  20m Illawarra Branch
Graham B.
Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longThis year we are holding our AGM and get together at the Tallawarra Power Station picnic area and wetlands. Picnic area shelter is at the end of Yallah Bay, off the old Princes Hwy, just south of Dapto. This is a location of special interest to NPA as there is community discussion on the future of this parcel of land that is home to an incredibly wide variety of birdlife and is deserving of greater conservation status. There is usually no public access but we have obtained special permission for a guided tour. 1:00 pm - Gather at the picnic shelter for the AGM. Which will include a light afternoon tea. 2:00 pm - We'll drive to the security station to sign into site, there are bathroom facilities there, then drive to the walk starting point. The walk is ~4km easy grade and will be guided by a bird and location expert who will explain to us why this place is so special and should be given due conservation status. Bring some water, appropriate weather protection and wear enclosed footwear. The walk will take about 90 minutes and we’ll have a drinks and viewing stop half way. Feel free to bring binoculars. No RSVP required but if you are only attending for the wetlands walk at 2:00pm please text ahead so we can meet up with you, 0416 325266. All branch members, family and friends are welcome. In the event of inclement weather at minimum the AGM meeting will still be on at the picnic shelter.
