This is a delightful walk along Kangaroo Creek, all the way down to the junction of Engadine Creek and then back up to Heathcote Station. Along the way I plan to stop for a number of swims depending on the heat of the day so bring your togs with you! Should be a good way to spend a summers day! Bring sunscreen.

We will start at the Royal Randwick (Racecourse) L2 Light Rail stop and walk along the outside of the park to Martin Road to look at the heritage-listed house Patrick White and his life partner Manoly Lascaris lived in. Then to the park to see some heritage buildings, Busby’s Bore Cairn, some statues and memorials. We will enjoy the lovely peace and quiet of the Parklands; it’s trees, lakes, birds, animals and history. Depending on the day’s conditions the walk can be extended to the beach or harbour. The straight boundary line, drawn by politicians, makes no sense when it comes to natural beauty. See it for yourself! Park the vehicles at the locked gate at the end of Waratah Ridge Road. Walk into and down the Hair of the Dog Ravine at GR 493 038. After exiting the ravine, make our way west to Cerberus Creek and its canyon. Go through the canyon, visiting Cerberus Falls and exit at about GR 472 038. Walk on the road back to the cars. About 10k.

We then walk upstream to an excellent swimming pool on the junction with Lincoln/Monkey Ropes Creek.  Spend the day swimming and stay the night at a nice campsite near the pool. The return will be a short walk along Monkey Ropes Creek and up a new track to return to the cars. This is a perfect way to spend a weekend.

As Covid restriction limits the no of visitors to 5, she cannot host afternoon tea at her Darlinghurst Home after the walk. Instead she has made booking at Cruising Yacht Club of Australia ( home of Sydney to Hobart race) for lunch. Please state if you will join the optional lunch. Within the Kanangra Boyd National Park lies the untamed Kowmung River and on this walk, we will explore the spectacular Morong Deep which is in my opinion has the finest swimming available in the Blue mountains.From the cars we will walk down to the Kowmung and then have a wilderness basecamp exploring the Morong Deep and the Kowmung River at our leisure,and maybe even catching a trout or two! Rock scrambling, and offtrack walking.

Visit an Aboriginal site and the historic sawmill, and a few rocky vantage points, which offered spectacular views of the valley. The track to the creek is steep and involves some rock scrambling but it is adorned with wildflowers of various colours, overhangs and caves. Unfortunately this walk involves 4 km of street walking.View Esther's future walks Creek crossings, steep and slippery sections. Gortex boots an advantage. Walk will be cancelled in severe weather warning, bush fire warning or park closure. Please check your mailbox the night before to make sure walk is still on.

Then Elizabeth L/O, down to Knapsack Bridge. Under the highway and along River Road Reserve past the sculptures and Yandhai Bridge. Passing O'Donoghues Irish Pub for optional lunch (make your own arrangements and at your own expense). The pub is only metres from Emu Plains Station. Comply with Covid-19 regulations regarding spacing whilst walking, bring your own sanitiser etc. Rough ground, trip hazards, one very steep down. A few roads without footpaths to walk.
