Rookwood History Tours with Bundy

Journey back in time through 150 years of history, with a tour of Rookwood Cemetery. Rookwood Cemetery is recognised as the most historic working cemetery in Australia. Learn about Rookwood’s fascinating history, the story behind its development and evolution, and its significant link to our nation’s heritage – by attending one of our history tours. Duration: 2-3 hours Tours include:
  • The footings of Mortuary Station No. 1: Discussing the story of the first railway line that transported the deceased from Sydney’s city to Rookwood
  • The Circle of Love: A beautiful area that honours children interred in unmarked graves within Rookwood during the late 19th Century, as well as children interred within the children’s lawn
  • Martyrs Memorial: A moving tribute to those who lost their lives in Holocaust
  • The Saint Athanasios Greek Church: Australia’s only Greek Church located within a cemetery
  • Chapel and Mausoleum of Eternal Rest: Rookwood’s newly refurbished mausoleum that boasts amazing views across the cemetery

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longStarting at the new Narrowneck Track we walk along this iconic fire trail before turning off onto the Red Ledge Track which will take us down through the cliffline and eventually descend into the valley below where an old trainline remants can still be found amongst the regrowth. Our ascent will be via the spectacular Devils Hole Track with its giant chockstone. Off-track sections.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longWalk from Rosedale to Tomakin on beaches and headland tracks – Rosedale Beach, Guerilla Bay, Burrewarra Point, Long Nose Point and Barlings Beach. Includes a short car shuffle. While most of this walk is pretty easy, there is more than 1km along the ragged rock shelf towards the end. There are no public toilets and no potable water supplies along the walk. View

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Fully Booked) Stating at Woy Woy Bay, climb to Phegans Lookout, walk across Woy Woy Bay Road, descend and walk off track along the shoreline, climb up to a track, then along the ridge to Spion Kop Lookout, continue along the ridge, descend down and walk along Brisbane Waters Drive to the Woy Woy Station. Not stopping for morning tea in view of late start to walk along shoreline during low tide. Late start means a late finish. Steep, muddy, slippery, creek crossings and off-track sections.

This is a short paddle that will start in Lake Couridjah. We will then paddle into Lake Werri Berri and onto Lake Gandangara and then return. Participants to provide their own craft are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Hazards: Still water. Some snags and will need to paddle amongst some vegetation when paddling between the three lakes.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longThe south side of Bells line of road holds a lot of wild country and on this walk I plan to explore one of the places I've always wanted to go, Wilkinson Hill, which looks incredibly scenic. Part of the walk is on track and part bush bash although hopefully not thick! Expect lots of pagodas, the scenic Jungaburra brook and wonderful views over the Grose Valley. Off-track and some scrambling.
