Gibberagong & Bobbin Head tracks start off at Wahroonga Station. A moderate walk winding through bush, rainforest, heath, saltwater mangroves, creek crossings, waterholes & views of the Hawkesbury River. The whole watery mangrove ecosystems are on full display with plankton, crabs, shellfish & wading birds. An interesting walk with a swim & a picnic at Bobbin Head. Slippery creek crossings. Walk to Bluff Reserve for views over Glenbrook Gorge. Might see the elusive Moorakoo Falls. Then follow historic tramway track to Tunnel Gully. Make our way to Knapsack Bridge via a section of the Lapstone Zig Zag. Climb the new stairs to Elizabeth Lookout, visit Marges Lookout and Lennox Bridge before returning to Glenbrook Station. We are following Darling Mills Creek from near its source almost to its junction with Toongabbie Creek, to form the Parramatta River. We pass through Sydney's sandstone heathlands with remanent stands of Sydney Blue Gums and walk, near the end, along a convict-built road. An easy track to the dam, but then it becomes more rugged. Creek crossings, and you may wish to bring a torch for the tunnel, but that is not required. Booking essential, giving your NPA, mobile and emergency contact numbers. (Leader Changed) The Kangaroo River Fire Trail leads from Tallowa Dam Road down to Lake Yarrunga. The fire trail winds through forest with beautiful ferns, orchids and interesting rock formations to a lovely lunch place on the banks of Lake Yarrunga. Return by the same route. The walk has changed as follows: Starting at Glenbrook Station, walk through Knapsack Reserve to Elizabeth Lookout, Yoogali Lookout overlooking Penrith Lakes, cross few creeks and walk along a variety of tracks, trails and roads to Blaxland Station. Steep and creek crossing. Limit: 15. View

Walk from Carlingford to Rydalmere through urban bushland and parks, with some street walking. We start from Eric Mobbs Memorial Park and finish at Victoria Rd, Rydalmere, from where buses go to Parramatta or Sydney CBD. Optional extension of walk to Parramatta via shared pedestrian bike path along Parramatta River, a further 3.5km. Bookings only one week before the walk please. Location: Dundas Valley Limit: 15. This is part 2 of the planned series of heritage walks in Sydney that I am leading during April. This one includes the famous patch of bushland protected by the matrons of Hunters Hill and their Communist mates in the BLF, led by Jack Mundey. We are fortunate to have so many sites within easy reach by public transport. And, even better, this walk is on a day when we can have lunch at the Hunters Hill Club! We launch in the crystal clear waters opposite the river mouth, then head upstream to explore deep into two mangrove forests. "The fleet" can then decide to paddle to the river’s navigable limit or, on the return paddle, land and explore Mystics Beach - part of the National Surfing Reserve in Killalea State Park. Requirements: Participants to provide their own craft & are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Distance will be a minimum 7km but an optional extension making it 14km. Tidal. Deep water. Park on T3 Trail at GR 812 013 and proceed west for a few hundred metres to GR 811 012. Descend into the gully to the north and walk all the way to Tootie Cascades. Swimming opportunities. From here, return via the gully rising towards the south east towards T3 Track. Re-connect with the vehicles. Exploratory. About 6 km. Scrambling and exposure. Perhaps the biggest thrill will be to explore the visually stunning Firebird Rocks. Although not a long walk, it will keep you busy and enthralled for many hours! Broken Dam/4 Mile Hut base camp - expressions of interest sought: Day 1: drive to accomodation in Providence Portal. Days 2,3: walk to Broken Dam Hut, camp and do day walks from there. Day 4: return to cars, drive short distance to Selwyn carpark and walk into 4 Mile Hut site (now ruins) and explore the area. Day 5: return to cars, drive home. Joint walk with The Bush Club. We will meet near the entrance to the Castle Hill Metro Station. From here we will navigate our way to the Castle Hill Heritage Park. Time will be spent here walking around and exploring the various attractions which the park offers. The Castle Hill Creek(CHC) flows through this reserve and joins the Catti Creek further downstream. As we proceed to the Fred Caterson Reserve we will pass a couple of smaller parks along the CHC. The fire trail, pave walkways and bush tracks will lead us through this reserve to the Showground Metro Station, The bush tracks could be rough, slipery and stoney. Limit: 15. View
