Find out for yourself why this unique area, currently under threat, must be protected, now.
Drive to approximately GR 468 058 on the Deep Pass Trail. Head down a spur trending slightly west of south and then south as it nears Dingo Creek. Visit Howling Arch, an amazing natural feature. Enter Dingo Creek and progress downstream for about 1.3km, visiting the scenic Pool of Diana on the way, continue underneath high cliffs to GR 476 048, the start of a north, north-west trending ravine. Follow the ravine up, visiting the spectacular Pool of Aphrodite along the way, to eventually reconnect with the trail and the vehicles. About 6km. All off-track, some rock scrambling and exposure. Today we walk from Springwood to Valley Heights via Martins Lookout, Perch Pond and Magdala Gully Track. Beautiful sandstones, waterfalls, wildflowers and trees. Majestic views at Martin's Lookout but very steep climb to get there... Some parts are 47% climb. Expect a long day as we are taking our time to climb. View Esther's future walks Some part of the track is hard. Steep and slippery sections. Goretex boots an advantage. Walk will be cancelled in severe weather warning, bush fire warning or park closure. Please check your mailbox the night before to make sure walk is still. Map: Blue Mountains Limit: 10.

 Note early starting time for summer. From the station walking to Evans Lookout via Braeside Trail. From Evans Lookout follow the Grand Canyon to exit up Neates Glen. Return to Blackheath. Most people have to duck when going under particular overhangs. There is a short dark passage and the path through it isn't flat. Wet rocks in places. Creek crossings. After crossing the rivulet there is an indistinct track which leads to Balancing Rock and a lovely waterfall. Return is by the same route. Rough track, slippery creek crossings, steep sections. (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) From Bowral Pool we depart at 8:30am which is one hour earlier than normal departure time. We drive to Safari Kayaking located in Kangaroo Valley arriving around 9’ish where we select our kayaks/canoes and life jackets. Kangaroo Safari transport our boats to Bendeela and the car pool follows on. Once set up and in the water, we head upstream for about 3km to a lunch spot and then make our way back to Bendeela where our boats are returned to Safari Kayaking and we drive back to Bowral. The cost per person for boat hire is $45 (TBC) cash payable on the day. Please have the right amount of cash as we need to make a single payment. Cossies, hat, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water will be the go. Mostly still water. Possibility of one short section with quick flow if river is flowing. Liloing down through the stunning Wollangambe Canyon is one of summer's ultimate pleasures and I plan to check out a couple of interesting side canyons along the way too! So bring your lilo, sunnies, waterproof camera or phone and join me for this hedonistic day out in the wilderness. Some rock scrambling involved on the climb out. Deep water so must be able to swim or bring a life jacket.

Basically we walk down to the delightful Lincoln Creek via Pisgah Rock Track and then walk up Lincoln Creek as far as we dare before using our trusty lilos to float down the creek and shoot the rapids where possible. Cycle from Wolli Creek Railway Station to Stanmore, Whites Creek Canal, Rozelle, Birkenhead Point, The Bay Run, Canada Bay, then Cabarita for picnic lunch (BYO). Coffee stops along the way. Many cycle paths and cycle lanes along quiet roads with some undulations. Return to Wolli Creek Rail about 4pm, via Canals and a Greenway. No helmet, no go!
