24 Nov, Sun | Lane Cove Rivergaine VI | ||||
Sydney Branch | |||||
Ted W. | |||||
The epic LaneCoveRivergaine series has reached its sixth and final stage as we farewell the river at its mouth (sort of), the Heads of Sydney Harbour. (The first LaneCoveRivergaine started at the river’s source in Pennant Hills in 2015).
Rogaining involves teams of 2-5 persons navigating to checkpoints marked on a map.
This 6-hour rogaine on Sunday 24 November is open to everyone. We expect 400 entrants of all ages (6 to 80+) and abilities - from elite athletes to walkers and families, some with strollers. You get to choose your own route and level of difficulty and how long you take, within the 6-hour time limit.
The map encompasses the area from North Head to Manly and the Spit Bridge with spectacular vistas over the harbour and beaches. You can even play a spot of croquet at the Manly Croquet Club.
The Hash House (start & finish) will be at St Paul’s College on the edge of North Head. At the conclusion of the event there will be an all-inclusive BBQ, provided by the world-renowned 1st North Sydney Scout Group, with its three-star chef preparing gourmet eats.
And Paddy Pallin will again be providing gear for winners and lucky door prizes.
You don't need anything special. Comfortable jogging/ walking shoes and appropriate clothing are fine. A compass isn’t essential but would be useful.
Instruction is available for first timers. Just form a team and register at https://nswrogaining.org/2024-socialgaine/
Note there is a cost to participate in this event, hosted by NSW Rogaining. rough ground, steep sections Location: Manly and North head View |
