The Alpine flowers should be at their peak at this time of year, and the fresh air is most invigorating! Also, there is a new major track to check out and much, much more. As in previous years, we will stay at Charlottes Pass in a very comfortable abode, The Southern Alps ski lodge, and from this centrally located residence, we will venture out on day walks. This lodge is totally DIY and rooms are twin-share with larger rooms accommodating up to 4 people. There are no single rooms and anyone coming who is single should be prepared to share a room with at least 1 other member. Of course I'll arrange rooms with a woman sharing with another woman and visa versa! Needless to say, this trip is always my most popular of the year, so if interested, don't delay.

It isn't very long and usually takes about 3 hours and then runs into Rocky Creek Canyon. I plan to do Rocky Creek just before the big swim and reverse back up the canyon, depending on water levels. Canyon | A trip through a canyon (a gully surrounded by tall cliffs).Swim | A trip that involves swimmingWalk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longOne of my favourite fun and easy canyons to do is definitely Birrabang! There are no abseils and only a couple of very short swims under 15 metres, some of which you can avoid by climbing around. It has a few lovely cascades and as a bonus has some truly spectacular pagodas as you walk out via the exit track. Participants should bring a helmet and a wetsuit, as although there aren't many swims, the water you wade through is cold. Rock scrambling and short swims.
