(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Join Glenda Gartrell for this community event and rare opportunity to step inside some of Newtown's most unique houses. We will visit houses from the late 1800s. The first stop is 26 Oxford Street, an old convent formerly known as St Bede’s Convent and High School Sisters of the Good Samaritan. We will then cross the road to 7 Oxford Street, a turn of the century, worker's semi-detached cottage. We will then take a short walk around the block to the historic Albemarle Street and visit the abode of folk artist and long-time resident and local legend Dianne Gallagher. (Fully Booked) The last of the special trips to Lord Howe Island started during the pandemic. A visit to this World Heritage site is on many people's to-do list. In this trip we not only walk the many beautiful tracks, but also learn from the local experts why the island is so special in the stories of evolution and conservation. You may also encounter one of the most unique birds which was the reason of David Attenborough's 1997 visit. The trip package includes flights, accommodation, restaurant meals, lectures, guided walks, low tide reef walks and night walks. You can also enjoy your own walks, snorkelling, golfing, etc.. Find out why this part of the Gardens of Stone must be better protected for the future generations. Park the vehicles at around GR 306 175 on the branch road off the Bicentennial National Trail. Follow the Great Dividing Range north to Gordian Knot and then to Witches Watch, a spectacular lookout above Hecates Cauldron. From here, descend into the Cauldron and explore it underneath the cliff lines and also above, amidst “the bubbles”. Visit the Tower of Hope and other features. Descend into the headwaters of Baal Bone Creek, cross the valley and climb up through Tara Slot onto Tara Point. More amazing views. From here, move up to the ridge and re-connect with the vehicles. A scenic to the gems of La Perouse, bays and beaches, parks and landmarks. Also a short walk through national park. Mostly on off road cycle paths, short distance on road with wide shoulder. Bring lock, spare tubes and walking shoes. Unfortunately, riding an e-bike on this trip will mean that you are not covered under NPA club insurance; Bushwalking Australia is working to see if it can be covered for future trips. Limit: 10. View
