Today, We walk from Wentworth Falls to Lawson via Bruces Walk. Begin with the Maple trees lined streets of beautiful Wentworth Falls. It’s a magical walk with waterfalls, caves, gum forests, sassafras’s forests, bird life and magestic views.  This year the Big Scrub Rainforest Day is going online, providing an even greater opportunity to get involved. Join in for two-panel discussions facilitated by well-known ABC journalists Kerry O’Brien and Mick O’Regan focused on the bushfires in and around Nightcap National Park and their impact on Gondwana and lowland subtropical rainforests. Free registration will grant access to the footage release, airing 6 PM Sunday 20th September.
Listen to experts who were involved in fighting the bushfires and their assessments of the impacts in Nightcap National Park and nearby rainforest.

| Start at Toongabbie Station at 10:11am, walk towards Toongabbie Creek on shared bicycle/foothpath, then follow the Settlers Walk to Third Settlement Picnic ground for early lunch and toilet. Along the Third Settlement we continue to Baden Powel place where the bush tracks start. We follow the Pemulwuy Track till the creek and continue on the Moxham Park trail, finishing at Churchil Drive. Then bus 706 or walk to Windsor Rd for bus 600, or 601 to Parramatta. Limit: 8.

| It has been a trying year and we have not been able to hold Branch meetings in person though we have at least been able to get together on bushwalks. I guess I should be pleased for small mercies.
We had hoped to hold a Branch meeting in person on September 23rd in our old venue but to maximise numbers we are deciding to attempt a Zoom meeting. Our guest speaker will be Catherine Cunningham.
Catherine Cunningham will give a well-illustrated address on The Effect of subsidence from long wall coal mining on the ecology and water quality of streams. Catherine will clearly illustrate how the careful use of scientific methodology can tease out answers to important questions regarding possible risks from this modern form of coal mining that has replaced the former border and pillar style mining which left much coal intact for safety purposes. The research was conducted under the auspices of Sydney Water and University of Canberra.
