The return to Mt Kuring-gai is by a track that follows an old water pipe from Apple Tree Bay to the maintained track from Mt Kuring-gai to Cowan Creek. This is a short walk about 4-5 Km with 200 m ascent.
A creek to the north of the return track flows to Cowan Creek and crosses the Berowa track. This is the second gorge and more difficult one to walk. Exit to Mt Kuring-gai can be made before this section.
Due to closed tracks within the park the second gorge is not available and return from Apple Tree Bay will be Apple Tree Creek or to Mt Colah via maintained tracks. Hazards include slippery surfaces and rocks.
