The Poseidon area of the Gardens of Stone National park is an amazing place of fantastic rock sculptures, secretive slots, pristine pagodas and views aplenty! I plan to explore this area and the aim of this walk is not to do a long distance but to photograph and enjoy the locations unique rock formations which will keep the group entertained for quite awhile I'm thinking. Mostly on track and under the rainforest canopy with excellent lookouts and two solid climbs. We will visit the imposing Lawrence Hargrave monument, view remnants of a coal mine and see the sculptures acknowledging the local Aboriginal Wodi Wodi people, account of the 5 islands formation. Potential side trip to Robertsons Lookout (adds 2 kms) and late lunch in the Botanical Gardens, time dependant. Two early climbs, 210m and 180m. This is one of the Jim series of walks. Hazards: Two off-track sections including a long off-track scramble up a dry gully, unfenced lookouts, slippery in parts when wet. This walk is rescheduled from 30 April, deferred due to rain.
