26 Oct, Sat 9:15AM | Wild flowers, limestone cave, waterfalls walk
Grade:3/6 | Length | 13km | 400m | Sydney Branch
Esther | |||||
I would call it a good walk if it has any of the three features of this walk... wildflowers, limestone cave and waterfalls. This route is courtesy of Faye and Brian Everingham. I joined their walk on 2 October. We walked along Forest Path and Lady Carrington Drive to Palona Creek, then we walked Walumurra Track along Bola Creek and return to the car. We saw 4 species of orchids, many gymea lilies at eye level and other wildflowers. There were waterfalls to delight. We walked along the tall turpentine trees adorned Bola Creek and visited the beautiful limestone cave. We also climbed a 300 meters hill to a sandstone overhang to enhance our fitness. All that was accompanied by an amazing bird chorus. We also saw a pair of suicidal Superb Lyrebird as we drove to the walk! This walk is 3 weeks later. We’ll find out what’s there. Graeme Bradburn will be there to help us identify the orchids and he might surprise us by taking us to other nearby areas for orchid sightings. Steep and slippery sections.
