Grade:3/6 | Length | 14km | 400m | Sydney Branch
Mark G. | |||||
This is one of my favourite Springtime walks because the flowers and views on this circuit are spectacular and varied! Expect masses of blooms, and if lucky, we should see plenty of orchids along the way. The Hawkesbury sandstone country we will be travelling through has a lot to offer the intrepid walker, so come along and see for yourself why this area is a must-visit location. Location: Brisbane Water NP Map: Gosford 91312S Limit: 20. View |

Grade:4/6 | Length | 12km | 400m | Sydney Branch
Anton | |||||
(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Rock Island is a stunning and almost treeless ridge above Deanes Creek. Surrounded by deep and beautifully lush ravines, to reach the island we will pass through the beautiful “Valley that Time Forgot”. Also, grand sandstone overhangs, awesomely large trees, and a few more surprises.
A grade 4 to grade 5 walk. A few moderate climbs, and a total elevation gain of 400m. At 12 km it’s a moderately long walk. Mostly off track but not overly technical. There are short sections of thick scrub at the start and end. Time for photos and side explorations is required, so this will be a long day with an early start.
The walk spans a corner of each of the Ben Bullen, Cullen Bullen, Rock Hill and Mount Morgan topogoraphic maps. Some short sections of thick scrub on steep slopes. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Mount Morgan 89311S, Ben Bullen 89314S, Rock Hill 89312N, and Cullen Bullen 89313N Limit: 12. View |

Leader: Lynne Hewitt. The Alphabet Series: "U" .UWS Sculpture and Art Gallery Walk. A visit to see the sculptures in Western Sydney University, the Art Gallery of Campbelltown and the Japanese gardens behind the Art Gallery. The Art Centre is a large outdoor sculpture and manicured park area which features a range of permanent and changing exhibitions. Experience the unique sculptures in a beautiful outdoor setting. Experience the Tether of Time - a 15-metre sculpture and meet Esmeralda, the 10-tonne granite prehistoric wombat. Spring time will enhance our visual and smell sense in our visit to the Japanese Gardens. The Japanese Gardens are a special gift from Koshigaya, Campbelltown's Sister City in Japan. The Gardens symbolise the beliefs and religion of both Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan, and Zen Buddhism. The Campbelltown Japanese Gardens feature a traditional waterfall, koi pond, timber bridge, stonework pathways, lush plantings and a 16th Century designed teahouse, handcrafted by Japanese craftsmen. The aim of the garden is to obtain quiet solitude. The design represents elegant simplicity, lending itself to contemplation and heightened awareness. The Gardens is also home to the Arts Centre Cafe, a scenic dining location that overlooks the tranquil gardens. Limit: 15. View |

Fully inside Blue Mountains City Council
Grade:5/6 | Length | 12km | 500m | Southern Sydney Branch
Paul L. | |||||
(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) This walk came from having walked to the end of two tracks at the end of fire trails, then looking at a map and seeing how close they are with a creek in between. Blue Mountain Creek is joined by following Kent Street Fire trail to its end, then following the spur down to the confluence of Blue Mountain Creek with the creek from Empire Pass Track. Continuing down the creek with multiple crossings and wet feet to the confluence with a creek from Amphitheatre Falls. Explore the canyon and unnamed falls. Exit the creek valley by a series of passes through the sandstone cliff line and up the spur to the end of Blue Mountain Track. Track joins North Lawson Fire trail and then heads back to Lawson. Blue Mountain Creek is lined with lush rainforest and ferns and is seldom visited. No track through this section. Creek crossings and off-track sections. Wet and slippery rocks. Exposed rock faces. Location: Blue Mountains National Park Map: Katoomba 89301S Limit: 12. View |
