Park one car at GR 810 967 and another one at GR 840 967 on Mountain Lagoon Trail. From the first car, descend into Gospers Creek and explore it as far as time and interest will take us. This is a new walk to us that starts from the end of Murrua Road, North Turramurra and follows the Murrua Trail along a ridge before descending to the Rainforest Track at Bobbin Head. We then follow the Gibberagong Track back along the Cockle Creek to the steep Murrua Track back to the start. Booking essential giving your NPA, mobile and emergency contact numbers and stating if coming by bus or car. Leader will be travelling on the bus. (Fully Booked) This is a medium (grade 3) walk along Bargo River via Potholes Track to Diesel Pass and onto See Thru Falls then Mermaids Pool for morning tea. We will then follow the Matilda Track to a series of lookouts.   At the third lookout, we will split into 2 groups.  The optional harder (grade 4) walk will continue on and down Rosies Pass into and along Tahmoor Gorge and lunch in the gorge then return via Jacks Pass. The easier (grade 3) walk will back track to one of the lookouts for lunch. Rough track, unfenced edges, slippery rocks & creek crossings. Hosted by Sutherland Shire Environment Centre. Walks will be in the RNP near the headwaters of the Hacking River which drains off the Illawarra escarpment. The infamous Peabody Metropolitan Colliery is located further up Camp Gully Creek. The mine has illegally discharged coal waste material into these waterways on numerous occasions in recent years. If you’re curious about the ongoing impacts on the ecosystem downstream, this is a good opportunity to see the evidence for yourself. Registration essential. Creek crossings. Wet feet. Find out for yourself why this unique area, currently under threat, must be better protected. Park the vehicles at Airly Gap. Walk south west following the alignment of the former tramway to the transfer station site and the double track skip haulage to the high level tunnel through the south west end of Mount Airly. Climb the incredible pagoda spur to the top of the south west corner of Mount Airly, then traverse eastwards on the top/southern edge of the mountain, full of spectacular cliffs, overhangs and caves. Head north to descend into a rainforest tributary of Gap Creek. Scrambling and exposure. About 8 km. Location: Mugii Murum-ban SCA Map: Glen Alice 89314N View
