Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.LEADER: Lynne Hewitt: Take ferry to Rose Bay to visit Coopers Park, Blackburn Gardens and Redleaf Gallery.  Cooper Park is a large bushland reserve with many walking tracks and recreational facilities available. Cooper Park's worth as a recreation area was recognised as far back as 1885 when the Government was asked to purchase land from the Cooper Estate for recreational purposes. It was not until 1913 that Sir William Cooper agreed to give the whole of the gully from Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill to Manning Road, Double Bay to the Council as a park. Subsequent additions over the years have brought the Park up to its present area of 38 acres (15 ha.) The creek running through the Park is largely natural and follows the line of a volcanic dyke of the Jurassic age while the hillsides support a wide variety of native trees and shrubs. Development over the years included extensive walking tracks/paths, with shelter sheds built and picnic areas laid out. View

Come join us for a summer’s morning walk to survey the success of communities to ‘rewild’ an urban landscape.  We will stop briefly to look at the ecologies of brick pits turned into ponds, engineered salt marshes, worksites to establish native flora and canal walls sculptured to attract invertebrates. Spot an ibis joining a Royal Spoonbill for a feed. The walk will commence at 9.30am Tempe station and finish at Dulwich Hill station with a stop for an optional coffee.   View

Bring your lunch and something to share.  Memorial Park is a 9 minutes walk from Meadowbank Station.  If you wish to walk with others, meet at the station at 11 am. Lunch starts at 11:45 but it is nice to arrive early to mingle and hold the shelters for our party. View
