Expect to see abundant water birds. Preview of walk It's a picturesque section of the larger walk which will cover 570 km, linking the river's mouth at Broken Bay to its headwaters at Lake Bathurst, south of Goulburn. Council, with the NSW government, has been extending the path along the river banks as it passes through Emu Plains. In future, the walk will be extended towards Penrith Lakes and then on to Windsor, Wisemans Ferry and Berowra. Optional lunch at The O'Donoghues Irish Pub at Emu Plains. See menu.

Take limited stops train from central platform 18 at 8:58, arriving Penrith at 9:50 am. If you take the mountains train that leaves central at 8:48 am on Platform 5, you will get to Penrith at 9:35 am. This gives you plenty of time to have coffee//breakfast/toilet break.
