Fully vaccinated leader and walkers.  Today we walk the classic Spit to Manly walk that doesn't require introduction.  It is a popular walk through bush with superb water views. It's the time of the year when The Flannel Flowers bloom.  It is always an amazing show at this location.  Pink Flannel Flowers stole the show in summer 2021.  Now is the time to admire the (White) Flannel Flower again. At the end of the walk, the options are plenty: ice cream, fish and chips, coffee, pub, swim Steep and slippery sections Limit: 10. View

From the second car, walk west into a gully, descend under the cliffs and follow them south for as far as the time, energy and interest allow. Climb back to D’Arcy Trail and reconnect with one of the vehicles. Exploratory. Scrambling and exposure. About 7 km.

The walk will begin at the Ironbark Picnic area and take in the 248 Track and the beautiful Emerald Pool on Hominy Creek, plus Mt Olive. We'll visit several Aboriginal sites. This will be at a medium pace and all walkers MUST BE COVID DOUBLE-VACCINATED.

Finish and start are from the Conservation Hut at Wentworth Falls. Expect a lot of steps during our journey but also a fair amount of stops, admiring the beauty of nature! Basically, this is a walk I don't plan to rush! All intending walkers must be double-vaccinated. Lots of ups and downs.

Today we walk CALEYI TRAIL , Deep Creek Valley Trail and continue along the Narrabeen lagoon to the Tramshed. CALEYI TRAIL is named after Caley’s Grevillea, a medium to tall shrub that is only found in an 8km square area that includes Belrose, Ingleside and Terrey Hills/Duffys Forest). As it is now  spring, expect to see wildflowers, grass trees, ferns and eucalypts. There is a wide rock platform and some interesting sandstone formations. There are some nice views over the GARIGAL NATIONAL PARK.  Near the trail are carvings of two kangaroos, one of which has a spear in its back (described by WD Campbell).  Where the track meets Deep Creek, the creek cascades over the rocks and drops into a small pool below. Steep and slippery sections, some parts a bit rugged, creek crossing

Walk south into a gully, exit it after about a kilometre and climb up on the south-east trending spur. Walk to the end, traverse north-west under the cliffs, then follow the gully to the vehicles. Exploratory. Scrambling and exposure. About 7 km.

Leaving the fire trail there are a couple of steep gullies to negotiate before joining an old fire trail and then a bush track leading to the escarpment. Wildflowers are prolific and the view is spectacular. Hazards:  Steep rough track, slippery creek crossing, fallen trees, unfenced cliff edges. Limit: 20. View

This walk descends along the Lyrebird Gully Track, where I have seen lyrebirds on past walks, through forests along Calna Creek to join Berowra Creek. Joining the Great North Walk from Crosslands. Walk North on the track beside the creek, before climbing the track back up to Berowra. Hazards include slipery surfaces, steep descents and ascents, wildlife.

Never heard of Dangar Island? Join us for a tour to this idyllic island just a hop, skip and a jump from Hawkesbury River Station, Brooklyn. Upon arrival on this car-free oasis of bush, beach and tranquillity, we will be welcomed by tree-lined palms and jacarandas. On the lower grounds we'll walk past the Bowling Club and Bradleys Beach. On the higher grounds we'll get great views of the Hawkesbury River. We'll also walk past a Blackbutt – Rough-barked Apple Forest. Enjoy the scenic train ride across the Hawkesbury River and a joy ferry ride to the island. Enjoy lunch or Devonshire tea at Dangar Island Depot before taking the ferry back home. Bring money for ferry ($8.50 one way adult, $4.30 one way concession (not sure seniors are considered concession)). View
