Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longFind out why this spectacular area must be better protected for future generations. Park on a fire trail off Sunnyside Ridge Road and walk east to the head of a tributary of Wild Gorge. Descend it, visiting Dome Cave and Pinch Point Circle along the way. Move south east and out towards Carne Creek, then climb out on a tributary and visit Cosmic Cave. Exit via Split Rock Point and Pass. Re-connect with the cars. About 8k. Scrambling and exposure.

Walk north west and descend Long Ridge Knife-edge to Tootie Arch and Sombrero Hat Cave, and then to the Middle Creek junction. Continue up Middle Creek for about a kilometre, then walk up a saddle to the south and descend back into Tootie Creek. From here, head up south west to visit Long Wall and finally back to the vehicles. About 7 km. Scrambling and exposure. Partly exploratory.

The first crossing will be the Epping Rd crossing as part of the Great North Walk. Once across the bridge follow the Lane Cove River upstream around Chatswood Athletic Park, Mowbray Park and around Chatswood Golf Club to Delhi Rd. The second crossing of the Lane Cove River be Delhi Road over Fullers Bridge. We will continue a short distance to meet up with the Great North Walk again. Follow this track back to the Metro Station via Fairyland. Optional lunch: Korean Fried Chicken A few water crossings and rough track surfaces in places.

This year, the weekend will be dedicated to the memory of our good friend Jim Romanowski. After last year’s weekend, Jim twice asked to make it an annual event, so here it is. Drive to Newnes on Friday afternoon, share accommodation in the comfy and fully equipped Newnes cabins, or stay in the five-star camping ground. Friday night, the famous ukes will be back for a sing-along out the front of the pub. Saturday, a range of walks will be offered with various grades and leaders, the Glowworm Tunnel with a small canyon will be one. Saturday night includes surprise entertainment on the grassed area outside the pub including a toast to Jim. Sunday morning sleep-in then walk to the top of Mystery Mountain for brunch, great views and pagoda exploring. For those interested, a walk around the ruins on Sunday afternoon is available. Cost is approximately $120 pp for both nights in a cabin or $50 for a campsite. Leftover money will be donated equally to The Shepherd Centre and The Colong Foundation. Walks grades 3 and 4. View
