Sheldon Forest Circuit walk
The track meanders through the beautiful bushland of Sheldon Forest, along ridge tops, through open forest on the hill slopes and down to the creek side, following a stream that boasts a number of small waterfalls. The forest is one of the few remaining pieces of the Blue Gum high forest in the Sydney Basin. It is of high conservation status because it contains some of the last remnants of the endangered ecological communities. Echidnas, bowerbirds, water dragons, golden whistlers, pardalotes and powerful owls have been seen. We will check out Rofe Park as well. Steep and slippery sections Limit: 10.

| Grade:5/6 | Length | 13km | 500m | Southern Sydney Branch | |
| Paul L. | |||||
![]() (NEW!!!) This walk came from having walked to the end of two tracks at the end of fire trails, then looking at a map and seeing how close they are with a creek in between. Blue Mountain Creek is joined by following Kent Street fire trail to its end then following the spur down to the confluence of Blue Mountain Creek with the creek from Empire Pass Track. Continuing down the creek with multiple crossing, and wet feet, to the confluence with a creek from Amphitheatre Falls. Explore the canyon and unnamed falls. Exit the creek valley by a series of passes through the sandstone cliff line and up the spur to the end of Blue Mountain track. Track joins North Lawson fire trail and then walk back to Lawson via Empire Pass track. Blue Mountain Creek is lined with lush rain forest and ferns and is seldom visited. No track through this section. Creek crossings, cliff edges.Location: Blue Mountains National Park Limit: 12. View |

| Mark G. | |||||
![]() ![]() ![]() Morong creek with its series of spectacular falls and cascades is one of the gems of the Kanangra Boyd national park and on this walk we will follow its downward path as its plummets down to the picturesque Kowmung River. On the way we will savour its beauty, go for a swim and do the same when we reach the river at the bottom. This is really wild country and with its pink and grey granite boulders, the Morong creek is truly an amazing place for those with an adventurous spirit. For participating hikers, I'd advise to stay in Oberon the night before as the drive to the start of the walk is much shorter. rock scrambling and offtrackLocation: Kanangra-Boyd NP Map: Shooters Hill 88302S Limit: 12. ![]() (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) When the heat of Summer is upon us, where do we go to escape the heat? The Colo River Gorge of course!
On this particular walk we will experience the outstanding beauty of what is essentially the lifeline and heart of the Wollemi wilderness, the stunning Colo River and in particular the section between Tootie Creek and Meroo campsite. Expect long sandbanks, clear, tranquil pools, the exquisite Tootie cascades and lots of peace and quiet with only birdsong and the rivers gentle sounds to keep you company, as well as you're hiking friends of course.
I plan to take a flotation device and float along past the scrubby bits and suggest everyone does the same offtrack walking along the Colo river with scrambling at times.Location: Wollemi NP Map: Mountain Lagoon 90313S Limit: 12. View |
