Two separate walks to two peaks in different areas of the beautiful Guula Ngurra NP, with a minor car shuffle. The Mt Penang loop walk follows a pleasant, well-formed track up to the summit of Mt Penang with its panoramic views.
The track winds steadily uphill with a short, steep climb at the end. The Baldy Billy Peak walking track is an out-and-back walk to another summit with spectacular views down into the Wollondilly R valley below. After an initial short but very steep descent we cross a pretty, wide valley floor and then start the slow, steady climb to the summit of Baldy Billy Peak and then return along the same route.
Steep climbs & descents, uneven surfaces, indistinct track in places, unfenced cliff edges, slippery in places (walking poles recommended).Map: Hansworth 8929-3S Limit: 20. View |

Artarmon to North Sydney walk. This is the report from a previous walk: Immediately upon exiting Artarmon Station a bush track hugged the railway line and led to a clearing where gigantic carved gumnuts idly lay. At Hallstrom park beautiful sandstone sculptures of animals paid homage to Hallstrom’s involvement in Taronga Zoo. Nearby Walter Burley Griffin’s Incinerator had been recycled - into a cafe and a gallery. Heather recited poetry at Henry Lawson’s Cafe before we continued to Tunks Park for morning tea. A delightful finale was St. Thomas Rest Park, an historic cemetery. St. Leonards Park for lunch then home via the Metro. Limit: 10.

A steep but rewarding walk with views of the district.
By starting early we hope to avoid the crowds. The steepest section is now a gentler zig-zag. There are great views from the peak in all directions making the climb worthwhile. We will take a short break on the way up and then have a more extensive break just below the peak on the way down – celebrating all mothers. Bring your own cup and some extra water and the leader will provide hot drinks. Morning tea to share would be great. Lunch back at the cars.
Limit:12 - preference given to Mothers, new members and those who have never been to Pigeon House before. A series of ladders at the top with railings and resting platforms, plenty of encouragement for those queasy with heights.Location: Morton NP Limit: 12. View |

| Grade:6/6 | Length | 30km | Sydney Branch | ||
| Yuri B. | |||||
A 4-day pack walk.
Park at Benjang Gap, walk up Lee Creek till Lost Chord Ravine, GR 327 904, about 5 km, and establish a camp. We will stay at this camp for two nights and do two day-walks in this very complex and spectacular area. This part is partly exploratory.
It is fully exploratory from here on. On Day 3, we will strike the camp and find a way up through the cliffs to the north west and to the pagoda-studded tops. After establishing a camp at around GR 335 910, we will explore the ravine to the north with day packs only. The aim will be also to find water.
On Day 4, we will traverse the Tal Tal Range northwards till GR 321 930 or GR 310 941, where I expect to find passes back down to Lee Creek and the vehicles.
About 30 km. Mostly exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.Location: Wollemi NP Map: Talooby 89324N Limit: 8. View |
