(SWAG) Bob Rankin |
(Cancelled) The track meanders through the beautiful bushland of Sheldon Forest, along ridge tops, through open forest on the hill slopes and down to the creek side, following a stream that boasts a number of small waterfalls. The forest is one of the few remaining pieces of the Blue Gum high forest in the Sydney Basin. It is of high conservation status because it contains some of the last remnants of the endangered ecological communities. Echidnas, bowerbirds, water dragons, golden whistlers, pardalotes and powerful owls have been seen. At this time of the year, expect to see the Bonnet Orchids, Hyacinths and other flowers. We will check out Rofe Park as well. Steep and slippery sections

(Changed Transport Details) Leader: Kevin Cliffe. Have you heard of brush farm? Lucky for us, Brush Farm House opens on Fridays and Saturdays. Brush Farm is a heritage-listed former farm, residence and vineyard and now tourist attraction, community facility, exhibition venue and meeting venue.
Brush Farm House's variety of uses over the years provides an unbroken passage to the past through pastoral experimentation, stately home of nationally and internationally known identities, reformatory etc., these uses follow a timeline from early settlement, colonial expansion, colonial representation through parliament and national independence, through Federation, to today.
Its unique association with the European settlement of Australia and its early pioneers identifies the property as one of significance to the nation.
We start walking from East Denistone, explore Denistone Park, Darvall Park where you will find Sydney's best blue gums, Brush Farm Park and Brush Farm House (opens at 1:30 pm) before heading to Eastwood for afternoon tea. Limit: 15.
