(Nearly fully booked) Co-leader Elena Mazur: EGYPTIAN HIEROGLYPHICS. Did the Egyptians discover Australia before Captain Cook? You can make up your own minds about the hieroglyphics. It’s a loop walk. A little climb up a hill then squeeze through a small opening, will find you in a crevice adorned with the hieroglyphs. From there, we can retrace our steps for a short distance, then walk the Koolewong Fire trail for a further kilometre or so before crossing the creek and having lunch at the waterfall. After lunch, we'll visit the Aboriginal Carvings. View Esther's future walks A bit of scrambling to get to the hieroglyphs. Chance of getting wet feet. (Nearly fully booked) Martin Place, Strand Arcade, Pitt Street Mall and some others will still have the Xmas lights on until the end of the year. Of special interest is Strand Arcade. It is inspired by native flowers. How about we avoid the pre-Christmas rush and go after Xmas? I'm planning to see the Movie Nomadland at 4pm Dendy, Newtown. Then have dinner before going to see the lights. Dendy is very close to a historic cemetery. Meet at Dendy at 3 pm if you wish to visit the cemetery before movie. Location: City of Sydney Limit: 10. View

Waterfall Station - Kangaroo Creek Track - Bottle Forest Track - Engadine Track - Heathcote Station. This is a delightful walk along Kangaroo Creek, all the way down to the junction of Engadine Creek and then back up to Heathcote Station. Along the way I plan to stop for a number of swims depending on the heat of the day so bring your togs with you! Should be a good way to spend a summers day! Bring sunscreen. On the way back, park cars at the end of Walls Cave Road, go down Walls Cave and back. Return to Katoomba. Co-leader is Beth Cambridge. An easy walk through part of Centennial Park. We will start at the Royal Randwick (Racecourse) L2 Light Rail stop and walk along the outside of the park to Martin Road to look at the heritage-listed house Patrick White and his life partner Manoly Lascaris lived in. Then to the park to see some heritage buildings, Busby’s Bore Cairn, some statues and memorials. We will enjoy the lovely peace and quiet of the Parklands; it’s trees, lakes, birds, animals and history. Depending on the day’s conditions the walk can be extended to the beach or harbour. Hazards include viruses and the summer heat. Limit: 10. View

(Cancelled) Half of this walk is in an unprotected area of Newnes SF; the other half is in the Blue Mountains NP. The straight boundary line, drawn by politicians, makes no sense when it comes to natural beauty. See it for yourself! Park the vehicles at the locked gate at the end of Waratah Ridge Road. Walk into and down the Hair of the Dog Ravine at GR 493 038. After exiting the ravine, make our way west to Cerberus Creek and its canyon. Go through the canyon, visiting Cerberus Falls and exit at about GR 472 038. Walk on the road back to the cars. About 10k.
