From Kembla Lookout, we'll make our way up the rocky, steep at times, but reasonably well formed track. After 1.7km we'll reach the plateau atop Mount Kembla and 180m above the car park. There are a number of excellent lookouts over the Illawarra Region (weather permitting :)) for a lunch break.
We'll return down the track and then follow the ring track to traverse Mount Kembla escarpment through rainforest, and historic mining sites. We'll take a short afternoon tea break with an optional detour to a historic mine site. Some steep steps that will be a bit slippery in the wet. Unfenced cliff edges at lookouts. If you're after some superlative views, wonderful sections of rainforest and colourful flowering heathlands then this walk from Stanwell Park Station to Austinmer Station via the Wodi Wodi, Bullock and Escarpments Tracks should be high on your priority. Add a magnificent historic viaduct and 10 out of 10 lunchspot at Sublime Point will all add up to a day walk to remember. The Wodi Wodi Track can be slippery in a few sections. A walk through local trails on both private and public bushland and skirting up from Little Valley Way to the base of Pointer Mountain through a variety of vegetation types, including Mallee Gum trees, heath plants and sedges. Keep your eyes out along the way for local kangaroos, wallabies and an array of bird life, such as honeyeaters, wrens and colourful parrots. The walk comprises both well-formed tracks and trails as well as some lesser used old trails. It is suggested that you wear long pants. There are a few water crossings, especially in wet conditions. The track leads off to the south from the Bell's Line of Road between Mount Tomah and the Mount Wilson turn-off, and there is a sign indicating Mount Banks. You can park at the end of the road. Walk out to the lookout and return over the top. This is a lovely walk and not too difficult. There are superb views of the Grose Valley at the lookout, and wonderful northern views as you come down off Mount Banks. There are many wild flowers at this time of the year. If time allows, we'll visit Mount Tomah to see the beautiful waratahs and proteas on the way back. Slippery sections Location: mt banks Limit: 12. View |

Flying Fox accessed by a fire trail has the remains of the flying fox used to bring timber up from the valley. The walk then returns to the Cooks Nose Lookout a wonderful lunch spot.
