Park on the plateau at GR 250 324. Walk on the fire trail and visit Mine in the Sky. Continue to Spot Height 1031m, then descend into the gorge to the east. Explore the gorge, eventually linking with Genowlan Mountain Trail at about GR 256 330. Next, visit The Grotto and Ladders Defile, before walking back to the vehicle. Partly exploratory. Led by Herbert Frey & Leslie Reddacliff. Park at Mt Bushwalker car park, ride north along Tianjara fire trail. Short walk to lookout for morning tea. Then on to lunch on Kangaroo Hill (views, war history and magic overhang). On return trip we visit another lookout, then the “Ravines”. The fire trail is extremely steep in places, following repairs to the road and installation of drainage humps, and bikes will need to be pushed up these! 10 kilometre moderate difficulty walk, takes around 4 hours. Through suburban streets then into the bushland of Berowra Valley Regional Park. We’ll pass the site of the historic Zig Zag railway and move through the Berowra Creek valley, passing a few cascading creeks. The track undulates along the side of the valley visiting a range of environments from moist fern forest to the drier grass tree and eucalypt forests of the ridge. Location: Great North Walk View |
