On this trip we will experience not 1 but 3 canyons with Du Faur Canyon being the main course. (Fully Booked) Twister Canyon is, without a doubt, one of the most fun canyons you can do without needing to abseil as it has multiple pools in which to jump and swim or, in places, scramble down. It isn't very long and usually takes about 3 hours and then runs into Rocky Creek Canyon. I plan to do Rocky Creek just before the big swim and reverse back up the canyon, depending on water levels. Participants must have the following, helmet, wetsuit, PFD and waterproof pack or inner bag. Rock scrambling on slippery rocks. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 12. View |

8 Feb, Sat 8:00AM | Birrabang Canyon
Grade:4/6 | Length | 7km | Sydney Branch
Mark G. | |||||
One of my favourite fun and easy canyons to do is definitely Birrabang! There are no abseils and only a couple of very short swims under 15 metres, some of which you can avoid by climbing around. It has a few lovely cascades and as a bonus has some truly spectacular pagodas as you walk out via the exit track. Participants should bring a helmet and a wetsuit, as although there aren't many swims, the water you wade through is cold. Rock scrambling and short swims. Grade:4/6 | Length | 6km | 200m | Sydney Branch
Mark G. | |||||
(Fully Booked) Deathtrap canyon lies in the headwaters of Rocky creek canyon and is a fun creek walk with several short jumps, water slides and one abseil down a sloping cascade/ waterfall. Participants intending to join should be competent abseilers and must bring all the gear required for an abseil including harness, descender, helmet and wetsuit. From the base of this one abseil it is a pleasant walk down Rocky creek to the start of the tourist section. Co-leader is Adrian Barden. As is standard practice and because Adrian will be supplying the rope, there will be a $5 rope levy for wear and tear for everyone coming on this trip. rock scrambling and abseil Location: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 8.
