The West and East Rim tracks, which both start from the Fitzroy Falls visitor centre, offer 2 quite different vegetation types. As it's Spring time I think we can expect wonderful displays of the various flowering natives as we walk, and enjoy the many lookouts which both rim track can offer. Needless to say the views are incredible and I plan to see as much of this area as possible. I plan to do the West rim track before lunch and the shorter East rim track after our meal break with afternoon tea at the Burrow cafe situated at the visitor centre. slippery track in sections Location: Morton national park Limit: 20.

This is one of my very favourite walks in the Blue Mountains as its comprises so many wonderful aspects in a single trip. First there is the series of spectacular waterfalls as we descend Victoria creek down to the Grose River at Burra Korain flat. Then there is the abundance of wildflowers at this time of the year all along the route including a huge amount of waratahs as we ascend the ridge up to Pierces Pass. Add to this some wonderful swimming holes along the Grose river along the way. All in all a walk not to be missed. Location: Blue Mountains National Park Map: mt.wilson Limit: 20.

One of the best walks for wildflowers in the Sydney region is this delightful trip to Pindars Cave which is an enormous overhang not all that far from Wondabyne station. Expect multitudes of blooms along the way including some superb sprays of the Sydney rock orchid. Transport is via train as Wondaybyne is the only railway station in NSW not reachable by road. One of the reasons I want to do this walk is because of the bountiful displays of wildflowers you encounter on the track at this time of the year in the height of Spring. Last time I ventured along this trail the wildflowers were breathtaking and I see no reason to believe this time it will be any different! Expect lots of stops along the way to photograph the blooms and the spectacular scenery around Jerusalem Bay and on the wonderful Taffys Rock. Location: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park Limit: 20.

Morong creek with its series of spectacular falls and cascades is one of the gems of the Kanangra Boyd national park and on this walk we will follow its downward path as its plummets down to the picturesque Kowmung River. On the way we will savour its beauty, go for a swim and do the same when we reach the river at the bottom. This is really wild country and with its pink and grey granite boulders, the Morong creek is truly an amazing place for those with an adventurous spirit. For participating hikers, I'd advise to stay in Oberon the night before as the drive to the start of the walk is much shorter. rock scrambling and offtrack Location: Kanangra-Boyd NP Map: Shooters Hill 88302S Limit: 12.

(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) When the heat of Summer is upon us, where do we go to escape the heat? The Colo River Gorge of course!
On this particular walk we will experience the outstanding beauty of what is essentially the lifeline and heart of the Wollemi wilderness, the stunning Colo River and in particular the section between Tootie Creek and Meroo campsite. Expect long sandbanks, clear, tranquil pools, the exquisite Tootie cascades and lots of peace and quiet with only birdsong and the rivers gentle sounds to keep you company, as well as you're hiking friends of course.
I plan to take a flotation device and float along past the scrubby bits and suggest everyone does the same offtrack walking along the Colo river with scrambling at times. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Mountain Lagoon 90313S Limit: 12.

Hobnail Canyon is situated on Range creek and offers the enthusiastic canyoner a wonderful and spectacular exploration along a beautiful watercourse which doesn't include any abseils although there are a few short tape sections to negotiate into and out of the canyon, especially at the exit track on South Bowen creek.
Anyone attending needs to bring a helmet/wetsuit/drybag and PFD if you are not a proficient swimmer but you don't need a surfmat or donut as the swims are very short. This is a canyon well away from the insta crowd and one definitely worth doing. rock scrambling and offtrack Location: Wollemi NP Map: Mount Wilson 8930-1N Limit: 12.

The Bob Turners track is probably the easiest route down to the mighty Colo River and where it meets this superb watercourse is an enormous pool which is perfect for a swim on a hot Summers day. But wait theres more!
