Talk | A talk or slide show presentation.Public Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.19th Century naturalists were fascinated with the richness and beauty of Australian butterflies. Joseph Banks' collection of Australian butterflies remain an important record of Lepidoptera. By the early 19th century, butterfly collecting was regarded as an educated hobby, with many women artists given the task to scientifically illustrate these beautiful insects. A 25 km day. Starts with a winding route to Thirlmere for morning tea at a café (or nearby park). Then the route dodges the busy Wilson Drive by using quieter roads and tracks which run parallel to it. The scenery is mainly rural properties, villages, and natural bush. Much of the walking terrain is mown footpath or tree-lined gravel road. The day finishes with a scenic 1.5 km walk along disused railway line through the dramatic Big Hill Cutting, built around 1863. Support cars will then ferry the walkers on a 15 minute drive to a bush camp site in Nattai NP. For more info and to register go to https://savekosci.org/ View
