As part of the NSW Seniors Festival events NPWS is running a Meeting of Cultures walking tour Kurnell.
In 1770, Lieutenant (later Captain) James Cook landed at Botany Bay. He and his Endeavour crew stayed in the area for eight days and had a dramatic impact on Australian history. Seniors are invited to join a NPWS Discovery Ranger on an easy 40 minute easy grade walking tour around the heritage-listed Kamay Botany Bay National Park. Hear the story of Cooks arrival in Botany Bay and the meeting of European and Aboriginal cultures. See where the Endeavour was moored, the location where Cook and his crew landed, The Joseph Banks monument and more. Before or after the tour visit the NPWS Visitor Centre to see the historical exhibition including a canon from the Endeavour. Bookings essential. For booking or more details contact Wendy Affleck - NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service at 9542 0649 or email at wendy.affleck@environment.nsw.gov.au
