Specially designed itinerary by Trade Travel to include flights to and from Cairns, visits to local rainforest, talks by local experts on rainforest and reef, visit to art deco town Innisfail, guided excursions from Mission Beach into national parks and islands with historical/scientific talks and easy walks. Options to visit the reef and extend your stay. Initiated by NPA Book Club from discussion of Iain McCalman's biography of conservationist pioneer John Busst. | This 5-day Colo wilderness pack walk starts and finishes at the end of Grassy Hill Trail. Once down at the Colo, walk downstream and enter Tambo Creek. Walk upstream till about GR 682 150. Ascend northwards, enter Pinchgut Creek and follow it downstream to the Colo. There will be a number of side trips. Detailed plans for each day to be advised. No water needs to be carried. A mixture of pack walking and day walking. Lovely campsites along the coast for 4 nights. Heath country with wildflowers, whales, and maybe a ground parrot.
