An available option to return on high ground for superb views and vegetations. Great views and wild flowers.   Steep and slippery sections The ferry is part of opal system now. The flannel flowers are abundant at this time of the year. The 10km Manly Scenic Walkway beings at Manly Wharf, passes sandy beaches, ancient Aboriginal sites and incredible lookouts, before arriving at the Spit Bridge where you can catch a bus to the city.
  • Distance and time: 10km one-way
  • Level: Grade 3 track. Suitable for most ages and fitness levels with occasional sections of stairs. There are also sections of sand, bush tracks and boardwalk. Not suitable for prams or wheelchair users.
  • Top attractions: Clontarf ReserveGrotto Point Aboriginal engraving site, Crater Cove Lookout, Forty Baskets Reserve and Manly.
  • Toilet facilities at the start and end of the walk and at Clontarf Reserve, Reef Beach, Forty Baskets Beach, North Harbour Reserve and Fairlight Beach.
  • Drinking fountains are available at Clontarf Reserve, Fairlight Beach and Manly.

A new nature trail was completed in November 2024, with over 60 native plant species planted to support local biodiversity. These diverse understorey plantings provide essential food and shelter for beneficial insects, reptiles, small birds, and mammals.  This walk on Wangal Nature Trail transforms a once-neglected urban corridor into a thriving green space that celebrates nature, culture, and community.
A leisurely stroll to see the Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forest (STIF)  and learn about native trees. Meet at corner of Burwood Road and Deane Street (just on the right of Burwood Station as you exit) Walk through lively Burwood, Burwood Park to Queen Elizabeth Park and finish at Edward Park.  Take a bus afterwards. Feel free to arrive Burwood early to have breakfast or morning tea. Burwood is a bustling suburb with plenty of food options.     Limit: 10. View

LEADER: Philip Wright Sheldon Forest Circuit walk The track meanders through the beautiful bushland of Sheldon Forest, along ridge tops, through open forest on the hill slopes and down to the creek side, following a stream that boasts a number of small waterfalls. The forest is one of the few remaining pieces of the Blue Gum high forest in the Sydney Basin. It is of high conservation status because it contains some of the last remnants of the endangered ecological communities. Echidnas, bowerbirds, water dragons, golden whistlers, pardalotes and powerful owls have been seen. We will check out Rofe Park as well. Steep and slippery sections Limit: 10. View
