A new nature trail was completed in November 2024, with over 60 native plant species planted to support local biodiversity. These diverse understorey plantings provide essential food and shelter for beneficial insects, reptiles, small birds, and mammals. This walk on Wangal Nature Trail transforms a once-neglected urban corridor into a thriving green space that celebrates nature, culture, and community.
A leisurely stroll to see the Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forest (STIF) and learn about native trees.
Meet at corner of Burwood Road and Deane Street (just on the right of Burwood Station as you exit)
Walk through lively Burwood, Burwood Park to Queen Elizabeth Park and finish at Edward Park. Take a bus afterwards.
Feel free to arrive Burwood early to have breakfast or morning tea. Burwood is a bustling suburb with plenty of food options.
Limit: 10.
