 Every year Bush Search and Rescue NSW (BSAR) organises and runs the Australian Emergency Services Wilderness Navigation Shield or NavShield. Participants test their bush and compass navigation abilities in an overnight event through 100 square km of wilderness terrain a few hours drive from Sydney, Australia. The location of the event is different each year. The two day event starts at 09:00 on Saturday and finishes at 12:00 Sunday. Registrations are open from Friday 05 May 2023. Hazards: Due to legal requirements, all participants must be >18yrs old irrespective of whether they are operational members of the NSW SES or RFS. Goulburn River National Park, about 4 hours north west of Sydney, one hour from Mudgee or 45 minutes from Denman. It is classic bushwalking country terrain dissected by the magnificent Goulburn River valley. The course is at a moderate altitude so it should not snow this year. The exact locations and directions to base will be revealed in your information pack emailed 1 week before the event.
