Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.Co Leader: James Moule. Following the footsteps of Mal January, we walk from  Blaxland to Glenbrook . Glenbrook Tunnel, Lennox Bridge and Glenbrook Lagoon are the highlights of the walk. The disused Glenbrook Tunnel is steeped in history. It was used as a secret site for mustard gas storage in World War II and in recent years housed a mushroom farm that one local MP called a "doss house". The Lennox Bridge is a heritage-listed road bridge at Mitchells Pass. It is the oldest stone arch bridge on the Australian mainland. https://arhsnsw.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/1806lapstone.pdf  Lunch will be at the Glenbrook Lagoon. Glenbrook Lagoon is a rare upland wetland that is one of only three of its kind in the entire Hawkesbury-Nepean System. The lagoon provides habitat for flora and fauna species that are otherwise unusual in the area. There is an opportunity to double the distance by walking back or continue to do another section, depending on interest shown. Steep and slippery sections.

Some great campsites; some nice swimming holes; mostly short days; with at least one 2-night stop, all make this a really terrific walk. There is great demand for the limited walk permits at this time of the year so we need to book close to the possible one-year in advance. Seven days (6 nights) of actual walking. A day of snorkeling on the reef prior to the walk is also planned.
