Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.The 1813 crossing of the Blue Mountains was the expedition led by Gregory BlaxlandWilliam Lawson and William Charles Wentworth, which became the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales by European settlers.  Mal January did not exactly follow the original route but mapped out his hiking route and led a group to cross the Blue Mountains twice.  Thanks to his generosity for permitting me to use his route, we can repeat this epic journey to cross the Blue Mountains. We take the 7:23 Blue Mountains train every Sunday, with some exceptions. If you like long walks, there is an option for you to walk two sections on some days. Also, some days have long walks. Steep and slippery sections.

Glenbrook Tunnel, Lennox Bridge and Glenbrook Lagoon are the highlights of the walk. The disused Glenbrook Tunnel is steeped in history. It was used as a secret site for mustard gas storage in World War II and in recent years housed a mushroom farm that one local MP called a "doss house". The Lennox Bridge is a heritage-listed road bridge at Mitchells Pass. It is the oldest stone arch bridge on the Australian mainland. https://arhsnsw.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/1806lapstone.pdf Lunch will be at the Glenbrook Lagoon. Glenbrook Lagoon is a rare upland wetland that is one of only three of its kind in the entire Hawkesbury-Nepean System. The lagoon provides habitat for flora and fauna species that are otherwise unusual in the area. Steep and slippery sections.
