| 4 Apr, Sat 8:00AM | Tramway trail~The Towers~Blacks Corner and return | ||||
| Grade:4/6 | Length | 15km | 300m | Sydney Branch | |
| Mark G. | |||||
![]() A walk with history and lots of pagodas and stunning views! We start our hike along the Tramway trail, passing various old miners dwellings now being overtaken by nature and head west until the trail ends and we then follow the ridge along to Blacks Corner. Sounds deceptively simple but along the way we will encounter more pagodas and slots than you can imagine as well as some almost parkland sections of grassy lomandra until we reach our objective, Blacks Corner. A walk for those who want to leave the Easter crowds behind and explore a location rarely visited. rock scrambling and offtrack walkingLocation: Mugii Murum-ban SCA Map: Glen Alice 89314N Limit: 12. ![]() ![]() What this walk lacks in distance it more than makes up for in terms of variety and pure enjoyment as there is much to see and savour in this not often visited part of Wollemi national park. Along the way you'll encounter some of the best and largest swimming holes you could hope to find, gorgeous waterfalls and cascades and stands of towering trees in a rainforest environment. Add to these features, some extraordinary tafoni enriched sandstone caves, rock wells to play in and a hellva lot more. | Sydney Branch | |||||
| 14330 | |||||
![]() ![]() ![]() We in Northern Beaches (Sydney) are excited to host a night to view the stars at the only Dark Sky Place in Sydney. Surrounded by ocean, Governor Phillip Park, Palm Beach (see map link) was designated in 2024. The night will be hosted by North Sydney Astronomical Society (NSAS).
Numbers are restricted, so please contact Pamela Dawes soon to reserve your place.
NSAS will be able to supply the telescopes but we will need to restrict numbers to 40.
Please bring jumper, snacks, drinks (non alcoholic) a chair or picnic rug. They allow about 10 people per telescope, each viewing a different area of the sky, so there will be some waiting involved.
The event will be weather dependent, of course, as we need a cloud-free night.
If it is cloudy weather on the day, we will need to postpone.

Artarmon to North Sydney walk. This is the report from a previous walk: Immediately upon exiting Artarmon Station a bush track hugged the railway line and led to a clearing where gigantic carved gumnuts idly lay. At Hallstrom park beautiful sandstone sculptures of animals paid homage to Hallstrom’s involvement in Taronga Zoo. Nearby Walter Burley Griffin’s Incinerator had been recycled - into a cafe and a gallery. Heather recited poetry at Henry Lawson’s Cafe before we continued to Tunks Park for morning tea. A delightful finale was St. Thomas Rest Park, an historic cemetery. St. Leonards Park for lunch then home via the Metro. Limit: 10.
