Azalea, Camellias are also in bloom at this time of the year.  There are many choices for lunch at Burwood's Chinatown. View

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longFully Vaccinated | All participants must be able to show proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to particpate.We start from Little Wobby with Water Taxi from Brooklyn. It's $12.64 per person with Card payment. We climb to Midway Ridge Trails that have many fabulous lookouts toward Hawkesbury River. The climbs involve some bush bashing and obscured tracks. The walk until Tank creek would be pleasant walks among typical Australian vegetations of Angosphoras, geebungs, gumtrees, flannel flowers both helianthis and minor, fringed lilies, native irises. There'll be 2 television aerials observed set on the rocks, in the middle of the bush. The walks along kilometres and kilometres of the fire trails are exposed  until we reach Kariong Brook Falls that provide some respite from the sun and extra water. We’ll take the train home from Wondabyne. Sun, steep and slippery sections View

They are majestic flowers to admire.  https://www.cbcity.nsw.gov.au/environment/parks-reserves/sylvan-grove-native-garden It s also a botanical garden with a variety of plants.  After the garden, we will take a walk in Georges National Park with great views of the river.  Spring flowers including native orchids will be plenty. Accommodation | An activity that involves an overnight stay, using hard-roofed accommodation such as a cabin, hut or hotel.Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Date Changed) As part of Parramatta to Shoalhaven Heads walks series, we will walk from Gerringong to Shoalhaven Heads over 2 days, staying Saturday night in or near Gerringong (make your own arrangements). Can walk one day or two. Saturday: walk Gerringong to Gerroa on pathways, beaches and rock platforms, return with car shuffle.  10km 100m Asc Sunday : walk the entire length of Seven Mile Beach, Gerroa to Shoalhaven Heads but some on sheltered bush tracks and with low tide the beach sections are a very easy nice walk on hard sand. Return with car shuffle. 12km 50m Asc Part of the Great South Coast Walk  (http://greatsouthcoastwalk.net/) a long-distance walking route along the southern coastline of New South Wales, from Bundeena on the southern fringe of Sydney, to Mallacoota, just over the border in Victoria, 660km in total.

Lisgar Gardens is a wonderful, secret garden hidden in the back streets of Hornsby. Spread across 6 acres, the garden packs a lot in with a little bit of something for everyone. Expect to see camelias, spring flowers, orchids, Magnolia, ferns, rare natural heritage, fish ponds, interesting landmarks such as murals and brick pit.    Preview of Lisgar Gardens There are sixty Camellia Gardens of Excellence in the world, with the Camellia Gardens and Lisgar Gardens in Hornsby being the only two in NSW. Optional lunch at Hornsby RSL club. Stairs and slippery sections.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan showcases Australian flora amongst 416 hectares of rolling hills, lakes, lawns and gardens. In the late 18th century, the discovery of a new continent filled with exotic plants unknown to the rest of the world created waves of excitement in the field of botany. The Australian Botanic Garden displays approximately 2000 of these plants via themed gardens across the site as well as the Connections Garden, a four-hectare intensely cultivated space right in the heart of the Garden. Other features of the Garden include a restaurant, visitor centre with gift shop, free gas barbecues and acres of Cumberland Plain Woodland to explore. Come Spring, the paper daisies become an attraction for visitors. Various species of Waratahs will be flowering too. After seeing the floral display, we will walk to the Sundial, Mount Annan Peak, the Blue Tree before leaving the Garden to visit Lake Yandel'ora before catching the bus home. Expect a long day.

Pretty along the creek, with a waterfall(Phantom Falls). Some quite wet tiny tracks. Lots of ups and downs. Those who use hiking sticks would need them. Start with a coffee at the famous German bakery,  Then walk to Wentworth Falls lake. The circuit around the lake shows you the serene beauty of the lake. Admire the water birds, sculptures and the flora...Maples, tea trees, grevillea ( specific to this area), isopogan, sun Orchid, wild strawberries, tree ferns, and of course Waratahs and rhododendrons flowering in October. There are more species unknown to the leader. Botanists  are invited to join the walk to enrich our knowledge. If you are lucky, you will see redbellied snakes. On return to the station, you can treat yourself with the famous pastries at the German bakery. View

The walking circuit is accessed from the Metro Station via tracks through the Castle Hill Showground and Fred Caterson Reserve. The walk is a mixure of pave tracks, bush tracks, fire trails and streets. Track could be rough and slippery in parts. View

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.RSVP only accepted from 2 weeks prior to 7 pm the day before event. Walk along the north shore of the Parramatta River from Meadowbank to Huntleys Point. Along the way we will visit Helene Park, Anderson Park, Settlers Park, Clevevs Park, Kissing Point, Putney Park, Morrison Bay Park, Glades Bay Park, Banjo Patterson Park and Bedlam Bay, learning some Sydney history as we go. It's a colourfule walk.  At this time of the year, we see purple jacarandas, red flame trees amongst giant fig trees.  Walk the cool rainforest in Looking Glass Bay, walk Jenny's labrinryth, see orchid like Walking Lily in bloom, Parramatta River Regional Park, admire the community garden in Bedlam Bay and Gladesville hospital.  We walk pass Gladesville Reserve before reaching Huntleys Point Wharf for a return trip home to Circular Quay or Meadowbank. Mud, steps, slip hazards.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(NEW!!!) Leader: Lynne Hewitt. Join us for a tour to this idyllic island just a hop, skip and a jump from Hawkesbury River Station, Brooklyn. Upon arrival on this car-free oasis of bush, beach and tranquillity, we will be welcomed by tree-lined palms and jacarandas. On the lower grounds we'll walk past the Bowling Club and Bradleys Beach. On the higher grounds we'll get great views of the Hawkesbury River. We'll also walk past a Blackbutt – Rough-barked Apple Forest. Enjoy the scenic train ride across the Hawkesbury River and a joy ferry ride to the island. Enjoy lunch or Devonshire tea at Dangar Island Depot before taking the ferry back home. Bring money for ferry ($8.50 one way adult, $4.30 one way concession (not sure seniors are considered concession)). View
