A steep climb to start, up Mt Durras, then walk across to Pebbly Beach (partly on the road) and stop for lunch. On the way back explore the new track along the coast back to Pretty. Some uphill and down, along rock platforms, up and down constructed steps, short section on the Pebbly Road. The walk is long, but pace will be steady, with plenty of time to enjoy the coast on the way back. Whole day walk. Should be back at cars around 4:30 pm. We launch in the crystal clear waters opposite the river mouth, then head upstream to explore deep into two mangrove forests. "The fleet" can then decide to paddle to the river’s navigable limit or, on the return paddle, land and explore Mystics Beach - part of the National Surfing Reserve in Killalea State Park. Requirements: Participants to provide their own craft & are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Distance will be a minimum 7km but an optional extension making it 14km. Tidal. Deep water. There will be walks in Bandageree rainforest; we will walk sections of the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk, as well as having a ranger-guided rainforest and Aboriginal cultural tour in Dorrigo. Two separate walks to two peaks in different areas of the beautiful Guula Ngurra NP, with a minor car shuffle. The Mt Penang loop walk follows a pleasant, well-formed track up to the summit of Mt Penang with its panoramic views. The track winds steadily uphill with a short, steep climb at the end. The Baldy Billy Peak walking track is an out-and-back walk to another summit with spectacular views down into the Wollondilly valley below. After an initial short but very steep descent we cross a pretty, wide valley floor and then start the slow, steady climb to the summit of Baldy Billy Peak and then return along the same route. Steep climbs & descents, uneven surfaces, indistinct track in places, unfenced cliff edges, slippery in places (walking poles recommended). (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Red Ledge Pass is one of the many scenic passes off the Narrowneck that are worth a visit but still pose a bit of a challenge as it's steep in parts with a rough track only to the top of the pass with a bush bash down into the valley. Then it's a walk along to Devils Hole, which is very scenic with its small stand of rainforest and giant chockstone. Off-track and scrambling. From Steamers Beach carpark, we follow fire trails and a short on-road section to Stoney Creek for morning tea and a swim if hot. We then proceed southwesterly on rough tracks to Paradise Rock for lunch with a view, then a short but rough, steep and scrubby off-track section should land us on Steamers Beach for a snack and maybe another swim, and then the main track back to the cars. The Nattai River is a place not often visited but it's certainly worth the effort of getting there as it's a peaceful and spectacular place to spend a few hours searching out the odd platypus or wombat! On this walk we will descend to the river and follow it along to the Slott Way Track so making this an interesting circuit.

There are walkers huts at each campsite and we will travel through the Blue River provincial park for a large section of the walk. Nadgee Nature Reserve is a real delight, especially in spring with the wildflowers and hopefully a ground parrot or two. And the coastal scenery is wonderful, with perhaps a sighting of whales!
The Reserve is south of Eden and runs down to the border.
This full pack walk is out and return featuring multiple nights at two of the best locations in the Reserve – Newtons Beach and Nadgee Beach. From Newtons Beach we spend the time enjoying the beach and the lovely scenery. From Nadgee Beach, we will do a couple of lovely day walks including a visit to Bunyip Hole

A six night full pack walk involving Daveys Hut, Kidmans Hut, and Mawsons Hut. Exact details will be determined by weather and other factors. We camp near these huts but not in them so everyone needs to be fully equipped for the variety of conditions in the area. We stay at ski lodge in Jindabyne for a night on either side of the walk with our regular BBQ overlooking the lake. Always a pleasure walking in Kosciuszko area and this will feature some great scenery and bush in an area new to the leader. Location: Kosciuszko NP Limit: 15. View |
