From Huntleys Point Wharf, we walk via Gladesvillle Reserve, Huntleys Cove, Bedlam Bay and Bedlam Bay Community Garden to Gladesville Hospita. Tour of the hospital is from 11 am to 2 pm and costs $10 which includes morning tea. Bring picnic lunch.
Originally known as Tarban Creek Lunatic Asylum, the hospital was designed by the Colonial Architect, Mortimer Lewis. The first patients arrived from Liverpool Asylum and the Female Factory at Parramatta in 1838. The last in-patient services were closed in 1997. The site contains many buildings that are listed on the Register of the National Estate:
