Morong creek Falls ¬Morong creek¬Kowmung river and return |

Length |

Sydney Branch |

Morong creek with its series of spectacular falls and cascades is one of the gems of the Kanangra Boyd national park and on this walk we will follow its downward path as its plummets down to the picturesque Kowmung River. On the way we will savour its beauty, go for a swim and do the same when we reach the river at the bottom. This is really wild country and with its pink and grey granite boulders, the Morong creek is truly an amazing place for those with an adventurous spirit. For participating hikers, I'd advise to stay in Oberon the night before as the drive to the start of the walk is much shorter. rock scrambling and offtrack Location: Kanangra-Boyd NP Map: Shooters Hill 88302S Limit: 12.

Many people have done Wollangambe 1 and 2 canyon sections, but have you ventured further down this magnificent watercourse because there are some superb sections of canyon to experience for the adventurous walker/canyoner. Included is a tunnel section, oodles of long and spectacular pools, cascades and rock formations and a strong possibility you'll have the whole place to yourself. Helmets, wetsuits, surfmats or lilos/donuts are essential and a PFD too if you aren't a good swimmer. Needless to say a canyon pack or drybag are also important to bring along as is a sense of adventure and fun. rock scrambling and rapids Location: Wollemi NP Map: Wollangambe 89312S Limit: 12.

Hobnail Canyon |
Grade:4/6 |
Length |
7km |
150m |
Sydney Branch |
Mark G. |
Hobnail Canyon is situated on Range creek and offers the enthusiastic canyoner a wonderful and spectacular exploration along a beautiful watercourse which doesn't include any abseils although there are a few short tape sections to negotiate into and out of the canyon, especially at the exit track on South Bowen creek.
Anyone attending needs to bring a helmet/wetsuit/drybag and PFD if you are not a proficient swimmer but you don't need a surfmat or donut as the swims are very short. This is a canyon well away from the insta crowd and one definitely worth doing. rock scrambling and offtrack Location: Wollemi NP Map: Mount Wilson 8930-1N Limit: 12.

The Bob Turners track is probably the easiest route down to the mighty Colo River and where it meets this superb watercourse is an enormous pool which is perfect for a swim on a hot Summers day. But wait theres more! Bring along you're flotation device such as a surfmat or donut and we will float down the river, shoot the odd cascade before we return and eventually climb back up the way we came. A wonderful way to spend an Australia Day weekend. rock hopping Location: Wollemi NP Map: Colo Heights 90313N Limit: 12.
