25 Jan, Sat Clean up day
Branch
General Community Event
Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longYuri Bolotin is organising another clean-up day - this one is in Bilpin, the village where they live, for the Wollemi Wilderness Cabins. This place, one of Bilpin's tourist attractions, has sustained extensive damage during the fires, with most of its grounds severely burnt. We are trying to help them to restore as quickly as possible, to bring people back to Bilpin and to the rest of the Blue Mountains. You are invited to join Yuri to spend a day as a volunteer to help clean up after the fires. There is much to do and only very limited resources. We will be guided by Lionel Buckett, who runs the Wollemi Wilderness Cabins. No special skills are required. You need to bring a good spirit, an open mind and a pair of hands. Note this is not a club activity. Everyone volunteers on their own accord. Please let Yuri know if you would like to join him, and he will get back to you with the logistics. You can see Lionel's place here, before the fires: www.wollemicabins.com.au View

Camp | An activity that involves an overnight stay, usually in a tent.Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Cancelled) If you want the ultimate river trip you simply can't go past the mighty Morong Deep! This is an incredibly beautiful section of the upper Kowmung River populated by numerous cascades, cool refreshing giant swimming pools and slabs of pink granite which is perfect for scrambling over, sunbaking on and allowing perfect grip as you explore your way down the river. In short, having the time of your life! Add to this the real chance of bagging a wild trout and some lovely campsites and you have all the attributes for an amazing experience worthy of saluting the Australia Day weekend in style! The walk involves walking down into the deep via Megalith ridge, establishing a basecamp at a loverly grassy campsite then exploring with day packs the Kowmung river upstream into the Morong Deep and downstream too which has a completely different character. Lots of rock scrambling.
