Also the bird and mammal life is quite diverse with many species worth searching out. This is quite an easy backpack suitable for someone new to overnight camping. A bit of off-track from the river to White Box Camp.

With water for the day, walk to Middle Hill and set camp at around GR 541 694. Explore the nearby area that shows a couple of interesting slots. About 10km. Day 2. Find a way down into the creek to the north, explore a possible volcanic ‘neck’ on the way, then descend into Blackwater Creek. Take water, climb a ridge to the west and walk back to the camp. About 10km. Day 3. Find a way down into the creek to the south and follow it to Blackwater Creek, exploring a number slots along the way. Walk up Blackwater Creek and find an exit at around GR 545 658. Walk the ridge and then the trail back to the cars. About 12km. Exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.

The Edwards is an annabranch of the Murray starting at Picnic Point and rejoining the Murray 60km downstream of Swan Hill. Camping out of the kayaks/canoes. The pace is easy but paddlers need to be able to pack and camp out of their kayaks for up to 5 days and there will be number of weirs to portage and snags in the river. PFDs compulsory.

A 25 km day. Starts with a winding route to Thirlmere for morning tea at a café (or nearby park). Then the route dodges the busy Wilson Drive by using quieter roads and tracks which run parallel to it. The scenery is mainly rural properties, villages, and natural bush. Much of the walking terrain is mown footpath or tree-lined gravel road. The day finishes with a scenic 1.5 km walk along disused railway line through the dramatic Big Hill Cutting, built around 1863. A 17km day, mostly downhill or flat. Walking to Hill Top village on the dis-used railway line, to avoid the narrow verges and cuttings of Wilson Drive. Then some quiet side roads, a bit of busier road. In Colo Vale we start to encounter the wide, mown verges that are a feature of the garden-proud Southern Highlands. The fringes of Mittagong provide another good opportunity to drop hand-outs in letterboxes. Allow 5 to 6 hours walking time. Suggested accommodation – Melrose and Mittagong Motels. Walk the trail to GR 464 269 and walk in at the bottom of Starlight Canyon. Proceed to the last abseil and back. Swim/wade likely. Glowworms may be seen. Then visit the bottom of Devils Pinch Canyon, starting at GR 468 269. Both canyons are very impressive in their lower parts. Scrambling and exposure.

Highlights include walking the shady tourist road through the Mt Gibraltar Reserve in the morning, with morning tea at Bowral Lookout. The route also provides an introduction to some of the wealthier suburbs of the Southern Highlands, where mansions are set in manicured gardens, and verges have been mown for us by the staff. Through the main streets of Bowral and Moss Vale for some publicity for the cause, and nearly 5km of path through fields for some tranquility for the soul. Now, walk back a few hundred metres, climb out on the northern side and walk to Mount Dawson. From there, head east to a pass at GR 393 238 and come back down into the Capertee Creek Gorge. Keep under the cliff line this time, whilst making our way back. The first section is through private property; access has been arranged. Partly exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.

We start from  Minnamurra to Blow Hole Point and it takes  about 3 hours. We'll pass Jones Beach, Cathedral Rocks, Bombo Beach and KiamaHarbour on our way to the famous blowhole. Other attractions include the Boneyard and the Spring Creek Wetlands. Near the blowhole is the 1881-built Pilot’s Cottage Museum and the heritage-listed Kiama Lighthouse. The trail also takes us past the Kiama Golf Club, which charms with panoramic views, a restaurant and an 18-hole course. No need to contact leaders. Slippery sections.

Ascend the spur towards Airly Turret, then continue clockwise close to the rim of the escarpment all the way to the Ultimate View at GR 251 312 to The Citadel at GR 251 312 and then to the tip of the spur at GR 255 301. Use a known pass to descend to the first car. Scrambling and exposure.
