Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Fully Booked) Medium walk along Bargo River to Seethru and Mermaids Pools then along ridge via Matilda Track to lookout. This is a well worn track offering superb views of Bargo River and includes views of Mermaids Pool and Tahmoor Gorge. For those not doing the extension walk, lunch at the lookout and then return along the Matilda Track to car park (8km return, 160m total ascent). Optional (hard) extension walk (grade 4, walk with strict limit of 12 walkers): We will continue beyond lookout and down Rosies Pass into Tahmoor Gorge for lunch. After lunch, we will continue walking along the gorge and back up to the ridge via Jacks Pass and back to car park. (Total walk: 11.5km, 400m total ascent). Unfenced cliffs. Steep ascent and descent particularly on optional extension. Rock hopping.

The creeks are often on private land or they disappear into pipes, so we follow them as far as we can. We walk on streets, pathways and through public land. We continue by following Byarong Creek from Figtree to some way up Mt Keira. May be creek crossings and untracked sections.

In 1770, Lieutenant (later Captain) James Cook landed at Botany Bay. He and his Endeavour crew stayed in the area for eight days and had a dramatic impact on Australian history. Seniors are invited to join a NPWS Discovery Ranger on an easy 40 minute easy grade walking tour around the heritage-listed Kamay Botany Bay National Park. Hear the story of Cooks arrival in Botany Bay and the meeting of European and Aboriginal cultures. See where the Endeavour was moored, the location where Cook and his crew landed, The Joseph Banks monument and more. Before or after the tour visit the NPWS Visitor Centre to see the historical exhibition including a canon from the Endeavour. Bookings essential. Camps at Kangaroo Clearing, then a nice possie between Mt Stormbreaker and Gabes Gap. Continuing on to Kanangra Walls is dependent on finding some degree of water at Mobbs Swamp (and therefore Dex Creek), we may wander around the Wild Dogs/Coxs River instead and return to Dunphys. River crossing at Yellow Pup point. Lots of steep ups and downs (400m & 600m individual climbs). Contribution to car shuffle or taxis will be required. Joint with Bush Club/SBW.

Lots of steep ups and downs (some using D rings), individual ascents 220m, multiple creek crossings.

Walks are all medium degree of difficulty between 10 and 14 kms in distance. We will be camping in the Lake Catani Campground in the national park and driving to walks on roads that are mostly sealed with the occasional section of good quality dirt road. No public transport options are available, participants need to bring their own vehicles or make their own arrangements to share. Also included is a walk on the Leanganook Track including Mt Alexander and part of the Coliban Main Channel and on one of the proposed rides we will also catch a train one way and ride the return trip. The other rides are creek and river rides through parks and scenic areas. Rides range in distance from 18 kms to 53 kms a day on well formed tracks and a hybrid bike is suitable.
