There are no abseils but plenty of rock hoping and scrambling. Drive some cars to the track in Godson St. Follow the track to Hat Hill Creek. Put on wet suits. Morning tea break at a suitable place in the canyon. Continue downstream to where Hat Hill Creek plunges into the Grose. Retrace upstream to the exit point. Have lunch, change into dry clothes for the walk out that will take about one hour. We will connect with the track leading to Hat Hill. If we have time we will visit the Aboriginal engravings and grinding grooves near the car park. Drive to the start of the walk to collect vehicles.
Bring a helmet. Wet suit or thermals depending on how you handle cold water. We will be in and out of the creek all day. Shoes that grip on wet rocks. Waterproof bags for your food, clothes and personal items. Water. I would not recommend drinking from Hat Hill Creek. There are side creeks where we can refill. Leave a change of clothes in the car. (Updated Details) It is going to be a very hot day on Friday, so I propose to spend the hottest part of it in this delightful wet canyon.
We will meet at 12:30pm at Evans Lookout car park and walk down to the abseiling canyon exit, then walk upstream to the abseil point and back again. It should take about 2 hours each way (the canyon part). There is one 20-25m swim at the start (and therefore the end), otherwise it is wading only. Bring helmets and appropriate shoes for slippery rocks. Waterproof bags for your food, clothes and personal items. Bring water.
After finishing the canyon, we will return the same way to Evans Lookout.

Join us for an Australia Day Celebration Walk to soak up the atmosphere of this great day. We shall walk across the Harbour Bridge, then from Kiribilli to Balmoral. Walk as much or as little as you wish. In 2017, a few people walked all the way to the Spit. Swimming opportunities. Several small climbs. Jointly led by James and Esther. No need to contact but email RSVP is appreciated. If you wish to join the Great Ocean Walk in March, you are encouraged to join this walk for meet and greet. Come to Circular Quay a bit earlier to get some freebies: eg flag, sausage sizzle, coffee. No guarantee though. Last year was offered.
